Everybody’s favourite lazy, lethargic egg Gudetama – one of Sanrio‘s popular and most recognisable characters – is celebrating his 5th anniversary this year. Numerous events are taking place in Japan to get in on the fun.
Gudetama was born in 2013 and has made a reputation for himself around the world for both his sluggish appearance and attitude. He is known as the egg with no energy or enthusiasm for anything.
Let’s take a look at 3 events taking place in collaboration with Gudetama.
Gudetama×Gokurakuyu Hot Springs Themed Menu & Original Merchandise
Gokurakuyu Hot Springs is teaming up with popular Sanrio character Gudedama from April 13, 2018. The collaboration is themed on Gudetama going to a bathhouse for a dip and will see select Gokurakuyu branches decorated in everything Gudetama with plenty of spots for photos.
The first run of the campaign will hit two Gokurakuyu branches from April 13, 2018. A second run will take place later on May 25 at two more branches. A themed menu as well as a range of original merchandise can be enjoyed.
Gudetama Hot Bath
Look forward to climbing into baths inspired by Gudetama. Throw in a cute Gudetama bath bomb co-developed for this collaboration and enjoy the scents.
Limited Edition Original Coaster
There are five food items on the menu at the restaurant for the collab. Those who order something from the menu will received a limited edition original coaster. There are 6 available.
Gudetama Photo Spot
There will be many different spots to take photos in the bath house. Take a cute pic together with Gudetama♡
Limited Edition Original Merchandise
A total of 7 different limited edition items (and 18 designs) with Gudetama and Gokurakuyu designs will be available.
(*Depending on the branch, items may sell out.)

Gudetama 5th Anniversary Birthday Menu in Osaka
A Gudetama themed café will open in HEP FIVE, a shopping mall and entertainment centre located just 3-minutes on foot from the Hankyu side of Umeda Station. There, you can enjoy a special birthday menu celebrating Gudetama’s 5th anniversary. It will be open from April 16 to May 31. The menu is a combination of Osaka soul food, Gudetama, and desserts, featuring a line-up of fun and cute items.
5th Okonomiyaku Pancake – ¥1,200 (+tax)
This cute celebratory okonomiyaki features a slouched Gudetama with curled hair. It’s coated with plenty of chocolate sauce and his butt is covered in fluffy whipped cream!
5th Takoyaki Croquembouche – ¥1,100 (+tax)
5th Marude Kushikatsu Sweets – ¥1,100 (+tax)
Lots and lots of Gudetama have transformed into takoyaki, a famous food product of Osaka! Chocolate sauce is made to look like takoyaki sauce and coats each and every piece. For the kushikatsu, fruits and roll cakes are coated in cornflakes and served with chocolate sauce. Both of these items are fun to look at and will be equally fun to eat.
Get your fill of Gudetama at each of these events.
