Ziyoou-Vachi Release Tokyo Ghoul ED “HALF” Music Video

25.April.2018 | ANIME&GAME / MUSIC

Ziyoou-Vachi‘s new single HALF goes on sale April 25. A music video for the lead title track, HALF, has just been released. This is the first time the band have teamed up with director Sayaka Nakane.

HALF is used as the ending theme song to the ongoing anime series Tokyo Ghoul:re, the band’s first anime tie-up.

Author of the manga Sui Ishida drew the cover art for the HALF single after a chance meeting with the band. It’s the anthem for the 2018 version of Queen Bee (Ziyoou-Vachi): a superimposition of half-human half-ghoul and a mixed race identity.

The eye-catching First Press Limited Edition of the CD features vocalist Avu-chan with a golden skeletal structure. The Regular Edition is a special package that features a drawing of Avu-chan by Sui Ishida himself.

Also, customers who purchase the new single HALF at select chains will receive a special bonus present. It’s available on a first-come, first-served basis, so you’d best get in there quick. For more details, see the information section below.

Ziyoou-Vachi will head on a tour this year to promote the release of their new single HALF, beginning on April 20 at CLUB CITTA in Kanagawa. The tour finale is set to be performed at Zepp Tokyo, but due to the flood of people trying to get their hands on a ticket, an additional date has been added for August 24 at STUDIO COAST. Tickets for the new date go on sale from 12:00 (JST) on April 25.

Hops are looking high for Ziyoou-Vachi into 2018. Stay tuned for the latest news.

  • Tokyo Ghoul Creator Sui Ishida Reveals Drawing of Marvel’s Moon Knight

    20.April.2022 | ANIME&GAME / MOVIE

The latest live-action series from Marvel Studios, Moon Knight, premiered on March 30, and is airing every Wednesday at 16:00 on the Disney+ streaming service. The main character, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, is one of the darkest and most mysterious heroes in the history of the MCU, suffering from dissociative identity disorder. Tokyo Ghoul creator Sui Ishida decided to surprise fans by releasing a crossover image to celebrate the start of the series and highlight the similarities between the two main characters, Moon Knight and Ken Kaneki.   The tagline of the illustration translates to "Clad in white madness," and shows Kaneki with his pale white hair and a red background beside Moon Knight in pure white with a dark black background.   Moon Knight protagonist Steven Grant is a kindhearted man who works in the gift store of the National Museum in London. He constantly suffers from blackouts and only remembers terrifying snippets of a former life. Eventually, he becomes the avatar for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.    Tokyo Ghoul has become one of the most popular manga series in Japan, with over 47 million copies in print as of January 2021. The series takes place in an alternate reality where ghouls, creatures who seem like humans but feed on human flesh, live among the general population in secret. After the main character Ken Kaneki receives an organ transplant from a ghoul, he becomes half-ghoul himself and must learn how to survive. Ishida highlighted the similarities between Moon Knight's Steven and Tokyo Ghoul's Ken, saying that they both have a lot of knowledge of what they're interested in and have their own dreams, but feel hopeless. Both are also mild-mannered, introverted, and invested in not becoming complete monsters. Ishida commented that Moon Knight might be his favorite Marvel superhero of all time. The manga artist praised the new show's fast-paced action, the gray morality in its violence, and the comical sadness of its protagonist. “I saw Oscar Isaac in Star Wars, and I’m wondering what kind of hero he’ll become in Moon Knight,” Ishida said. “I’m really looking forward to it!” Are you tuning into Moon Knight on Disney+? Tokyo Ghoul fans might want to give it a shot!© 2022 Marvel/ ©石田スイ/集英社

  • Special Tokyo Ghoul S Compilation Showcases Kaneki & Tsukiyama’s Relationship

    31.July.2019 | ANIME&GAME / MOVIE

A special compilation video for the recent live-action film Tokyo Ghoul S, which hit Japanese theatres on July 19, was recently released.
Before the film's release, it premiered in Tokyo, Osaka and Paris to rave reviews. At the premiere events, Shota Matsuda, who plays Tsukiyama, proclaimed the movie as "a romance film between Tsukiyama and Kaneki."   The compilation video reveals Kaneki's many encounters with Tsukiyama, from their first encounter to their aggressive battles, as well as the iconic scene from the original manga series when Tsukiyama sniffs a handkerchief with Kaneki's blood on it in pure ecstasy. The video includes the film's theme song Introduction by QUEEN BEE which was written and composed by band vocalist Avu-chan. The films directors, Hiramaki Kazuhiko and Takuya Kawasaki, also explained how much they focused on making sure Tsukiyama, who is popular amongst Tokyo Ghoul fans, was a strongly written character. They described in particular the climactic battle scene which isn't just a simple fight and instead is an opportunity for Kaneki to not only express himself to Kaneki but also eat him as he sees Kaneki as an ingredient. Kaneki is drowned in Tsukiyama's adoration for himself. Speaking about the role, Masataka Kubota, who plays Kaneki, said he made sure to play more of a passive role.   ©Sui Ishida / Shueisha   ©2019 “Tokyo Ghoul S” Production Committee
