flumpool Breaks the Shell on Forthcoming Album, Set for Release on March 16

07.March.2016 | MUSIC

Tuned into flumpool’s newly-surfaced single, “Yoruwa Nemurerukai?” yet? If not, hop on the bandwagon quick because they’re now here to officially announce the release of a full-length, including this much-lauded track, for March 16!

Also familiarised by fans as the theme song to the anime series (now also a movie) “Ajin,” their first single off of the album was released on the 10th of February, surprising fans with its dark, mellow tone that contrasts greatly to the sparkly pop we’ve become accustomed to. This shift in their music was one of the “challenges” they took on for their first release following a three and a half year gap, where the band speaks “we decided to break the shell and delve into new ways of expression.” If what they took on for their first single was a “challenge,” the working theme for the upcoming album has to be “growth,” which unmistakably unveils itself through the 14-track-long full-length.

They’ve named their album, “Egg”, metaphorically phrasing their efforts to break through the shells of an egg. Of the album, Ryuta Yamamura (vocals) explains, “This was a big move for us, and I hope our decision and shift in direction will transcend borders, turning into a scream that never ends.” The lyrics have a sort of finesse to it, where each and every listener is able to formulate their own interpretation depending on where they stand emotionally.

Apart from their melancholic tune, “Yoruwa Nemurerukai?”, the tracklist also includes a breezy summer tune, “Natsuyo Tomenaide ~You’re Romantic~” a comfort-inducing track with warm vocals, “Toaru Hajimari no Jyoukei Bookstore on the hill,”and the first track ever written by Genki Amakawa (bass), “Ubugoe.”

Along with the fact that their much-anticipated release is finally hitting the shelves, fans can go ahead and give out another cry of joy because their first release limited edition will include a DVD that features 4 different clips of exclusive footage — exactly what makes the long-anticipated album well worth the wait. They’ve (most appropriately) used the word “EGGS” as an acronym to what each footage entails.

E = Exclusive Session for “EGG”

Shot at the beginning of 2016, this is their latest footage from the studio. Sneak a peek into a rare session by the boys, and be mesmerized by the world they create as the beautiful lighting serves the perfect final touch.

G = Gig at Taipei International Convention Center in Taiwan on July 4th, 2015

Taiwan fans will know that this one’s from their 3rd solo show held in Taiwan that took place last summer at the Taipei International Convention Center. Catch a clip where Ryuta Yamamura sings in Taiwanese.

G = Gig at Zepp DiverCity and documentary of LIMITED TOUR 2015

The boys traveled across five different cities nationwide last fall for their tour, “The LIMITED TOUR 2015 RLOOF PLAN Otona no Yaneura Keikaku”: here’s a clip from their show at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo. The clip takes you back stage, because yes, this is indeed some “LIMITED” footage.

S = Special Footage on Music Video ”Yoruwa NemurerukaiMusic Video and Documentary)】

Watch their music video for “Yoruwa Nemurerukai?” and follow the boys for some behind-the-scene footage. Members also go through the tracks on the album and speak about how the video took shape; teaser clip from the anime, “Ajin,” is also packaged in this marvellous video!

Keeping you up to date on the ins and outs of flumpool from the years 2015-2016, this DVD has packaged promising footage for every fan that’s missed them like no other. You can also get a glimpse on their YouTube channel if you’re eager to get a quick taste.
