  • Collaborative Music Video Released for Aimer’s New Song ‘Black Bird’ and Japanese Movie ‘Kasane’

    31.August.2018 | MOVIE / MUSIC

Japanese singer Aimer, known for her distinct husky voice, recently embarked on her first every fan club tour this month. She will also head on a 21-date Japan tour this October which will take her to 20 places across the country. The singer will release her new triple-A single Black Bird / Tiny Dancers / Omoide wa Kirei de on September 5. The song Black Bird will be used as the theme song for the upcoming Japanese movie Kasane hitting Japanese cinemas on September 7.   A new video has been released featuring clips from the movie with the song playing in the background. Check it out below.
The movie is an adaptation of the ongoing manga series of the same name by Daruma Matsuura which has sold over 2.3 million copies. It’s a tale of jealousy and desire between two girls where a simple kiss can change the face of a person.   Black Bird will be available early for digital download as a standalone track on iTunes and other digital music platforms from September 3. Below are comments from members of the movie cast who spoke about hearing the song for the first time.   Tao Tsuchiya (Kasane / Nina Tanzawa): "When I heard the song play during the end credits, I recalled the colour of the sky just before dawn when it changes from dark to light. This song, which beautifully drags along the world of Kasane and Nina, makes the black end credits feel much more melancholic, but at the same time bandages the wounds of the soul. I believe it's a song that lets you look forward. For me, my encounter with Kasane has served as the first step towards facing myself, who I'm unable to love, so I hope that lots of people can meet the light [as I have] through Aimer's voice, which flows with life."   Kyoko Yoshine (Kasane / Nina Tanzawa): "It was a shock. I first heard the when I watched the movie when it was completed. When it played during the end credits, I got really worked up emotionally by her powerful voice which acts as a pillar for the feeling of Kasane. Even after I had finished watching the movie I was still left feeling excited for a while! There's lyrics that say 'I just wanted to become someone that could be loved' which overlaps with the feelings of both Kasane and Nina in the movie. It made me recall both Kasane's feelings and Nina's feelings that I felt when filming. I really want people to pay attention to the lyrics when they hear the song. They will shake anyone to the core."   Be sure to check out the collaborative video to hear the song yourself.
  • Aimer’s New Song ‘Black Bird’ to be Used as Main Theme Song for ‘Kasane’ Movie

    07.July.2018 | MUSIC

Japanese singer Aimer recently performed at Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo on June 20 and 21 alongside the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. There, she announced her 15th single slated for September 5. New details have emerged surrounding the single. The triple A-side single is titled Black Bird / Tiny Dancers / Omoide wa Kirei de. The first title, Black Bird, will be used for the forthcoming live action adaptation of the manga series Kasane by Daruma Matsuura which will hit Japanese theaters on September 7.   Check out the latest trailer below.
The original suspense manga series has sold over 2.2 million volumes. It's a tale of jealousy and desire between two girls where a simple kiss can change the face of a person. Aimer's emotional singing voice in Black Bird is a fitting choice for the adaptation. This will also the first time she has collaborated with a live action movie.   The single also includes Omoide wa Kirei de which was announced last month in line with Father's Day, and Tiny Dancers, an upbeat number like that of her song ONE which was released last year. It will also be coupled with a self-cover of Kyoukara Omoide which has pulled the heartstrings of people across the world for its emotional sound, lyrics and music video. Each song talks about supporting your memories even when you're young. It will almost be like a memorial to the singer who will celebrate her 7th anniversary on September 7.   CommentsAimer: I had the privilege to be one step ahead in witnessing the fate of these two girls who are at their wits end, entangled and in a heap at the behest of a single lipstick. My breath was taken away by as they fought and struggled in their own isolation while sobbing, howling and getting caught in a whirlpool of insanity during times of hatred, trepidation and desire. I found myself unintentionally asking things like, 'What is true beauty?' and 'What is ugly?' This is my first time performing a main theme song for a live action movie and was also a dream of mine. "Kasane" comes out on September 7 which coincidentally is the same as my debut date. I will be very happy if "Black Bird" fits into the world of the movie.Juichi Uehara (Kasane Producer): The film is a dark Cinderella story about young girls rising in the world in which trouble comes from them being enveloped in darkness. It has elements that clash with one another like an inferiority complex and superiority complex or happiness and sadness. I was longing for a singing voice that can express that unique perspective and kill two birds with one stone, is mysterious, and transient yet powerful.   As I was thinking about that, I encountered Aimer's voice, which has a unique tone and is like craving something to be put in your hands that you can't see. I thought to myself that she's the one. She's also from the same generation as the protagonists, so it felt even more like fate. So I got her on board.   "Black Bird" symbolises the feeling of the main characters so I'm glad to have encountered this song. Aimer's debut date falling on the same day as the release of the movie was something I found out later, so I wonder if this meeting really was our destiny.

  • Aimer’s Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel III. spring song Main Theme Music Video & CD Cover Released

    01.February.2020 | ANIME&GAME / MOVIE / MUSIC

The music video for Aimer's new song Haru wa Yuku has been posted on the singer's official YouTube channel. The song will be used as the main theme for the upcoming anime film Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel III. spring song which will release on March 28, 2020 as the final film in the planned trilogy. Aimer also performed the main themes for the previous two films, Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel I. presage flower (2017) and Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel II. lost butterfly (2019). Takahiro Miki was the director for Aimer's previous two main themes for the first two films, Hana no Uta and I beg you, which both have over 10 million views on YouTube. They star Japanese actress Minami Hamabe.
Both Takahiro Miki and Minami Hamabe have returned for the final music video too, completing the trilogy. In the video, we see Minami Hamabe in two different outfits, black and white, standing underneath a cherry blossom tree in full bloom. Its beauty is a faint allusion to the Fate/stay Night: Heaven's Feel movie story line, mixed together with chaos. We also see Hamabe appear as she did in the Hana no Uta and I beg you music videos too.   Seeing an actress star in a long-term music video project like this, which has been ongoing since October 2017, is a rare thing indeed. The current version of the new music video is just a teaser, but the full version is scheduled to be released on Aimer's YouTube channel in the near future. The artwork for Aimer's 18th single Haru wa Yuku/marie was also posted on her official website and features Aimer herself sat under a fully-bloomed cherry tree.   Aimer said: "I'm so incredibly happy to have been able to weave this story together into one from three songs with [Yuki] Kajiura and three music videos together with director Miki and Minami, finishing with 'Haru wa Yuku.' I'm filled with gratitude for the both of them [Miki and Minami]. I want everyone to watch this final piece while thinking about 'Hana no Uta' and 'I beg you.' I hope this music video and the song 'Haru wa Yuku' resonates with people deeply."   ©TYPE-MOON・ufotable・FSNPC
  • Aimer to Perform Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel III. spring song Main Theme

    16.December.2019 | ANIME&GAME / MUSIC

Japanese singer-songwriter Aimer, known for her deep and husky voice, is currently on her sold out 24-date tour Aimer Hall Tour 19/20 "rouge de bleu" which is taking her to 17 locations across Japan. Aimer revealed at her concert on Saturday 14th in Sendai that she will perform the main theme song for the upcoming anime film Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel III. spring song which will release as the final film in the planned trilogy in 2020. Aimer also performed the main themes for the previous two films, Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel I. presage flower (2017) and Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel II. lost butterfly (2019). The title of the song is Haru wa Yuku ("Spring Continues"). It will be produced by Yuki Kajiura who also produced the previous two main themes by Aimer, Hana no Uta and I beg you.   I beg you peaked at No. 1 on Oricon's Weekly CD Singles charts, so excitement is high to hear Aimer's next collaboration with Kajiura.   Haru wa Yuku will release on March 25, 2020 as Aimer's 18th single. It will include a new song entitled marie which is being used as the image song for "The Habsburg Dynasty 600 Years of Imperial Collections," an exhibition currently taking place at the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo from until January 26, 2020 in commemoration of Japan and Austria's 150 years of friendship. Aimer said: "I am both happy and privileged to be able to sing all of the main theme songs until the final film like this. I would like to thank Kajiura, as well all of the people associated with the series, and all of the people who love the series, from the bottom of my heart. I was overwhelmed when Kajiura presented me with this song. I knew we'd have to perfect it down to the tiniest details. But I also wanted to sing about love, and all of the emotions it comes with, succinctly in one answer, and so I sang with everything I had. I cannot stop hoping that 'Haru wa Yuku' is a sing that the people who have watched the story to the end will love." Yuki Kajiura said: "I am so happy from the bottom of my heart to have been able to work on the three main theme songs of Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel with Aimer. Over the course of the series, her voice has added to its flavour, and has consistently tied together everything from the sound to the world and how the heroines are portrayed. And she has once again poured her soul into 'Haru wa Yuku,' the song of the final chapter. I hope people enjoy it."
