Japanese pop rock band Mr. Children commemorated their 25th anniversary last year with their “Thanksgiving 25” tour, the band’s biggest to date, which saw them perform to 700,000 fans at stadiums and domes across the whole of Japan.
Mr. Children aren’t slowing down this year as they will release their new album Juryoku to Kokyu on October 3. This is their first album since REFLECTION (2015). To promote the new record, the band will embark on a 2018-2019 arena tour which will take them to 13 locations for 25 concerts, including their first ever overseas solo performance at Taipei Arena.
The new album features a total of 10 tracks including himawari which was used as the main theme for the Japanese movie Let Me Eat Your Pancreas, as well as here comes my love which was the main theme for the drama series Residential Complex, SINGLES which was also the theme for a drama series titled Hagetaka, and Hifu Kokyu which was used for Docomo’s 25th anniversary campaign commercial and at the time was dubbed “TBA DEMO.”
The CD cover (above) has also been unveiled in addition to a new artist photo and the short version the music video for their new song Your Song. This is the first music video to feature the band members since Ashiato ~Be Strong was released in November 2014.
Even 25 years later, Mr. Children’s new album shows that the band continue to hold that fire in them as a rock band while displaying their passion, yearning, love and urge towards music.
The band’s vocalist Kazutoshi Sakurai commented:
“I can finally open my mouth about our new album, so I will scream about it with everyone I have. We’ve made our best album yet!!”
The record is described as having their very existence etched it, showing their avid desire to create music and a sprint towards something new.“
