Tokyo Disneyland's special ghost themed Disney Halloween event will begin on September 11. It was recently announced that the theme of this year's Disney Halloween would be ghosts. These creepers will be waiting to greet guests at the park in the hopes of recruiting both them and the cast to their spooky squad.   In the run up to the start of the event, a special food menu was introduced to the park on September 3, as well as special merchandise, all taking on the form of cute ghosts. The park is also being decked out in lots of ghostly decorations. The ghosts have played tricks on all of the food. Choose wisely from a beef karubi corn made with the Halloween-esque colours purple and orange, or the pink churros sold at the Parkside Wagon and Pecos Bill Cafe which, when you bite into it is actually pumpkin flavoured. The Sweetheart Cafe has also joined in with the spooky season where they are serving a dessert with a cute chocolate ghost sat on top. Perhaps you can become friends with the ghosts by getting your hands on the special ghost-shaped t-shirts. Or try befriending them by getting an adorable plush toy version that can sit on your shoulder as you walk around the park. The lanterns dotted around to decorate the park at night at of course also ghost shaped. The park has a different atmosphere to it as you walk around illuminated by them. The ghosts have taken over the rest of the park too. Over in Fantasy Land, there's a building that looks like it's been taken over by a ghost. Watch your back for ghosts too as they'll be waiting for any opportunity to spook guests. There's even ghosts dressed up pretending to by cast members walking around having fun.   The ghosts are taking over social media too! The Harajuku and Umeda branches of the Pompompurin Café, which is based on the popular Sanrio character Pompompurin, have unveiled their Halloween menus which will be served from September 1 to October 31.   Pompompurin, who came second in the 2018 Sanrio Character Awards, is joined by his best hamster friend Muffin in this special themed menu.  

Purin the Mage’s Magical Stew: ¥1,290 (+Tax)

  This magical and mellow tasting stew contains three different Halloween colours, orange, black and purple, each with their own distinct flavours. The orange is carrot, the black is squid ink, and the purple is sweet potato paste. Purin looks so cute dressed as a mage!  

Black Cat Muffin Trick Pasta: ¥1,390 (+Tax)

  Muffin went and turned this pasta completely black with his magic abilities! The pasta is made with squid ink and is topped with tomato sauce. It features a Muffin as a black cat made of mashed potato. The dish also comes with cute monsters made of zucchini and a salad mixed with pumpkin.  

Happy Halloween Purin: ¥600 (+Tax*)

  This rich pumpkin purin is crowned lavishly with purple sweet potato cream. It’s filled with the flavours of fall, and when you pour over the caramel sauce it becomes even tastier. It also comes with monster made from gateau chocolate. This dessert is great if you’ve still got room in your belly after a meal.   *When you order this as a set the price of the set becomes ¥300 (+tax).     When you order from the Halloween menu you will receive a shiori and lunch mat with original designs. If you order a drink you’ll also receive an original coaster. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Japan have announced that they will release four Halloween themed doughnuts this year with black and pink as the primary colours. They will be available from September 12 to October 31. The black cat is a new entry to KKDJ's Halloween doughnut range this year, with the jack o' lantern and spider being returning regulars. The doughnut dough too is new, coming as pitch black and made with bamboo charcoal powder.  

Pink Pumpkin Jack - ¥220

  The jack o' lantern is a classic choice during Halloween at Krispy Kreme in Japan, but this year it's arriving in a new colour. The black doughnut is filled with rich pumpkin cream and coated with pink coloured and vanilla flavoured chocolate.  

Black Cat Chocolate - ¥250

  Black Cat Chocolate is the new kid on the block in KKDJ's Halloween range. This cute black kitty is filled with sweet caramel custard. Its eyes and whiskers are made of white chocolate and pupils and nose from pink chocolate. The sweetness of the caramel custard isn't too strong so it's recommended for kids too.  

Pink Spider Custard - ¥200

  This doughnut is inspired by a spider's web and takes on Krispy Kreme's classic chocolate custard flavour. The web is made from pink chocolate and it's filled with custard that has vanilla beans in it which when combined with the velvety chocolate icing has become a regular favourite.  

Halloween Old Fashion - ¥200

  This doughnut is made with old fashioned chocolate and a richer bitter chocolate. KKDJ are also releasing a Halloween dozen box that's coupled with their most popular Original Glazed® doughnuts, as well as a colourful 'mini box' of 20 that includes a range of different monster doughnuts. Both boxes will also come in original packaging from October 1.   As well as doughnuts, they are bringing out a hot Sweet Potato Latte and the Krispy Frozen Sweet Potato. Sweet potato is an autumn ingredient in Japan so you can embrace the season if you order these items. They get their sweet potatoes from Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture.
