STAR ISLAND is an event that describes itself as ‘future firework entertainment.’ The show has been held twice in the past and sold over 30,000 tickets. Now, for the first time ever, the fireworks will be exploding overseas.
STAR ISLAND Singapore Countdown Edition will welcome the New Year at The Float @ Marina Bay in Singapore at 23:00 on December 31, 2018.
STAR ISLAND brings together top creators in Japan to evolve Japan’s firework culture. Some big names include creative director Kenji Kohashi, the 150-year-old firework company Marutamaya Ogatsu Fireworks, 3D sound pioneer Katsuyuki Seto, globally-active lighting engineer AIBA, and more.
The event offers new ways to enjoy watching fireworks. The ‘Bed Area’ lets you gaze up at the lights while laying on a bed. The ‘Dinner Area’ is a place where can enjoy a meal while watching the fireworks. The ‘Kids Area’ is perfect for families, allowing attendees to see the explosions with their children. The event has given rise to a brand new business model that combines multiple paid-seating areas with fireworks.
STAR ISLAND has been held two years in a row in 2017 and 2018 at Odaiba Kaihin-Koen in Tokyo. Now, with backing from the Singaporean government, it is headed to what is said to be the largest region in Asia. The huge New Year’s countdown will take place with Singapore’s landmark Marina Bay Sands in the background.
12,000 fireworks will be launched, with each individual one firing to each beat of the music in sync. Cutting edge sound technology will propel the music which will blare from over 300 individual 3D sound speakers for a full 360° experience. A string of performances will take place on stage, including one from the LED BAND who combine the fireworks with 3D sound and lighting to create a rainbow of colours. The kid’s area will be decked out with a jungle gym, ball pit and breast-feeding area for mothers.

A brand new Ippudo has just opened its doors in Singapore (on June 14th), making it the 9th in the country. The night-time projection mapping event, “Tenku Hanabi ‐FIREWORKS BY NAKED –“ staged by NAKED will be held at the observation deck of “Abeno Harukas” named “Harukas 300” from September 21st 2018 (Fri.).
“Harukas 300” has been holding the projection mapping event called, “CITY LIGHT FANTASIA BY NAKED” for the past 4 years, during the winter season. This event has gained much popularity from both domestic and foreign visitors and over 600 thousand visitors have visited the event to date.
This time, the creative team of NAKED developed an art collection, “Tenku Hanabi ‐FIREWORKS BY NAKED.” Fireworks can usually only be seen in one direction but they have successfully created fireworks that can be projected on the walls of buildings using projection mapping technology. The visitors of the event can enjoy a “colorful sky rocket experience” using projection mapping technology and they can sense technology by touching the 16m-high wall named “Twin Tower” which is located on the west side of Tenku Teien (sky garden / 58F).
Visitors can also enjoy watching fireworks from different angles in a space (58F to 60F) surrounded by 3-layered glass which is known as a unique aspect of “Harukas 300.”
Let’s enjoy this brand-new fireworks entertainment event which is a combination of traditional fireworks and a sparkling world created using the motif of a kaleidoscope.
From Friday 10th August 2018, make your way to San-ai Dream Centre, which is located at the crossing on Ginza 4-Chome, to witness fireworks blooming in the mall by 80 Ricoh Ultra Short Throw Projectors.As fireworks are heavily associated with Japanese summers, this is the theme for the projection mapping project. Combining colours and 3D images, Ginza's night sky will glisten as fireworks launch into the sky, producing a magical atmosphere. This project was first launched in December 2017 with the intention of contributing to Tokyo’s diverse culture and entertaining visitors in Ginza. Since opening in January 1963, San-ai Dream Centre has become a landmark of Ginza. The projection mapping will utilise every inch of the many characteristic glass windows of the mall. Digital image artist group WOW, who operate globally, was in charge of using this characteristic building as their canvas, transforming every inch into a fun display.Enjoy the summer feeling of fireworks launching into the night sky of the city.

Digital Light Canvas is a space consisting of a 15-meter-diameter circular link of light and a 20-meter-high cylinder of light made up of a collection of light dots. Team Lab's interactive artwork, which changes depending on how many people are around, is on permanent display.
To promote the 2025 Osaka Expo, hundreds of drones and thousands of fireworks lit up the sky at the planned site for the event. SKYMAGIC LIVE PTE. LTD., known for creating original shows using drones, put on the show on Yumeshima, a man-made island in Osaka’s Konohana Ward on September 25, 2022. The event was the first large-scale outdoor drone show in the Kansai region, with 800 LED-equipped drones flying through the night sky. Nearly 15,000 visitors were in attendance at this spectacular event. The event aims to promote a hopeful future in which Japan thrives after the impact of the pandemic, and also aims to promote the upcoming Expo to people around the world. 45,000 fireworks were set off, marking one of the largest fireworks displays in Japan. Launched to rid the area of bad luck, guests will likely never forget the unique display of futuristic technology and traditional fireworks. As the fireworks show began, countless drones took off one after another into the sky. As many would expect, Myak Myak, the official character of the Osaka/Kansai Expo, appeared above the crowd, standing 135 meters tall and 80 meters wide. A countdown to the Expo appeared after, with the Let’s Go Expo 2025 logo shining in the sky, made entirely by synchronized drones.Archived live footage of the event is also available. Ryota Shirahama, chairman of the event’s organizing committee, made a comment regarding the impressive event. “Japan’s resurgence is about to begin,” he said. “The world has been looking down, and we want it to look up. We want people to look towards the future–that’s the goal of this project. Yes, there was a pandemic. But like the phoenix seen during the drone show, we can start over. I hope that those who saw the show will be inspired to take a new step forward.”

Let’s Go Expo 2025 Countdown 3 ~Yumeshima Fireworks~
One of Japan’s best fireworks extravaganzas is headed to Singapore! Star Island Singapore Countdown Edition 2022-2023 will ring in the new year on December 31, 2022 at The Float on Marina Bay. STAR ISLAND is a futuristic fireworks show that blends traditional fireworks with cutting-edge technology such as 3D sound, laser lighting, and unique performances in a spectacular location. The first overseas presentation was launched in Singapore in 2018, and the second in 2019 drew 20,000 people. The show was also brought to Saudi Arabia in September 2019. This year’s event, the third to be held in Singapore, is expected to draw 22,000 visitors.
