YuruYuri OVA Announced & Crowdfunding Campaign Launched

The official website for the anime adaptation of Namori’s slice-of-life manga series YuruYuri unveiled a new teaser visual and the main staff for the upcoming OVA which is being produced to celebrate the series’s 10th anniversary.

The cute teaser visual teaser features the lead character Akari in her school uniform making the number “10” with her hands to commemorate 10 years of YuruYuri.

 

The main staff announced to be working on the OVA includes Daigo Yamagishi (Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion: The Animation) as director as well as YuruYuri‘s author Namori and Takahiro―who created the ongoing series Release the Spyce―as the screenplay writers. The OVA will be animated by Lay-duce who are also working on Release the Spyce.

A crowdfunding campaign will also run from December 25, 2018 to February 15, 2019 to promote the new OVA. In return fans can get their hands on a special CD, limited edition Blu-ray of the OVA, get involved with events, receive a signed card from Namori and more.

  • TV Anime Okoshiyasu, Chitose-chan Stamp Rally Taking Place in Kyoto

    Kyoto Tower is holding a stamp rally from December 25 to January 31 themed on the ongoing anime series Okoshiyasu, Chitose-chan. The series follows the adventures of the cute emperor penguin Chitose-chan who strolls curiously around famous places in Kyoto. The stamp rally will have participants collection stamps from three places that appear in the anime series: the Kyoto Municipal Subway, Kyoto Aquarium and Kyoto Tower. Each stamp rally location has been given its own name: "Ride Kyoto Municipal Subway," "Enter Kyoto Aquarium" and "Climb Kyoto Tower." Each spot earns you a unique stamp based on that location. What's more is that if you get involved, the first 1,000 people at each spot will receive an original Chitose-chan folder (pictured below). Kyoto Tower will also be decorated with panels and boards displaying scenes from the anime.   Kyoto Aquarium appeared in episode 10 of the anime on December 7.   • Cardcaptor Sakura Happy New Year’s Campaign Taking Place at KIDDY LAND

    Head to one of 26 branches of KIDDY LAND in Japan including Harajuku and Umeda Osaka right now and you'll find the "Cardcaptor Sakura Special Shop." The shop is set to hold a special New Year's campaign from December 26 to January 27.   This special Twitter campaign celebrates the final New Year's holiday of Japan's Heisei period which is set to end in 2019. Fans that participate can get their hands on some exclusive Sakura merchandise. The campaign will take place across two periods. The first will begin on December 26 where you can get your hands on a special A2-size calendar poster when you spend over ¥3,000 (including tax) on select items at the Sakura shop. The second will begin on January 12 where the calendar will be replaced by a special clear bookmark. Both items will only be available for the campaign period.   To enter the campaign you must follow the Takara Tomy Cardcaptor Sakura on Twitter and retweet this tweet with the hashtag "#ハッピーニュ ーイヤーCP". Winners will be selected randomly. At the shop's fans can get their hands on limited edition merchandise, new items not yet on sale and more.   • Fujifabric Unveil CD Cover for Upcoming New Album ‘F’

    Japanese rock band Fujifabric have revealed a visual for their forthcoming 10th studio album F which will hit shelves on January 23, 2019. The album's cover art was designed by Isamu Gakiya and features a surreal collage that makes up the letter "F." Fujifabric, who are set to enter their 15th anniversary next year, also released a new monochrome artist photo in which we see the members each with a third eye. F will feature a total of 9 tracks including an album version of Tegami, the song Hagan which will be used as the ending theme for season two of the anime series 3D Kanojo: Real Girl that is set to begin airing in January, Koisuru Pasta which is used as the theme song for an AQUOS R2 smartphone commercial, and Tokyo which was produced as a result of the band getting the name of a song wrong during a live show.   A panel display will be set up at HMV&BOOKS in Shibuya on the album's day of release. It will include photos from the band's recent premium live performance which was held for FABch members.

    Eizan Electric Railway has announced that it is will begin collaboration with the Namori's popular manga series YuruYuri from July 4, 2020.  

    What is YuruYuri?

    YuruYuri is a manga series written and illustrated by Namori that is currently serialised in Comic Yuri Hime. The comedy and slice-of-life yuri story centres on the characters of the Amusement Club in Nanamori Middle School which consists of four girls plus the characters in the Student Council.  

    YuruYuri x Eizan Electric Railway

    Illustrations from the series will cover the outside and inside of trains along the Eizan Electric Railway from July 4 to November 30 this year. Posters will also be plastered up at 10 stations along the line, including Demachiyanagi Station, Ichijōji Station, and Shūgakuin Station. Locating all 10 sounds like a super fun trip. A limited amount of tickets illustrated by Narimo for this collaboration will also begin rolling out from July 24, 2020. Cardboard character cutouts will also be set up at Demachiyanagi Station and Kurama Station from July 25, ready to great passengers.   Exclusive merchandise will be sold and special events will also be held, including the Eizan Electric Railway x YuruYuri Collab Festa on July 24.   ©Namori/Ichijinsha
