The Metaverse event that was a smash hit in 2021 will be returning in 2023! Sanrio Virtual Festival 2023 in Sanrio Puroland, one of the world’s largest music festivals blending both the real and virtual worlds, will be held starting January 13, 2023.

A lineup of high-profile performers has been announced, including Airi Suzuki, SKY-HI, Yabai T-Shirts Yasan, and Aoi Fuji. Popular Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi will also appear, and visitors will be able to experience the virtual Puroland by utilizing unique avatars and taking part in a number of exciting events.

The 2021 event was incredibly popular, and the 2023 version will increase the duration and amount of content available. To do this, Puroland has joined forces with VRChat, a well-known US company and social platform. Artists, VTubers, and Sanrio characters will perform in a massive space on B5 of Virtual Sanrio Puroland, and fans can enjoy live performances while also communicating with other guests!

Highlights of SANRIO Virtual Festival 2023 in Sanrio Puroland

・Inspired by PURO VILLAGE at Sanrio Puroland, VIRTUAL PURO VILLAGE is now available in the Metaverse!

・The popular Sanrio Puroland parade will be performed in the virtual space with an original story!

・Starting January 13, 2023, visitors will be able to chat and play in an open space before the concert, and special events–like radio calisthenics–will be held.

・Guests can enjoy mini concerts featuring Sanrio characters every day from January 14 until January 20 (*Fee required.)

The event can be accessed via smartphone, PC, or other devices. Guests can have fun creating their own unique avatars and immersing themselves in the Sanrio Puroland atmosphere no matter where they are! Come experience this state-of-the-art Metaverse space while you can.

Experience Mini Live Shows Featuring Popular Sanrio Characters Every Day

A daily mini concert will be held daily from January 14 until January 20 with a different Sanrio character appearing each day. 

The mini-concert ticket allows guests to watch all seven mini-concerts and also includes digital items to use with your avatar, including a fan and a T-shirt. 

17 Artists Announced (So Far) to Perform During Virtual Music Festival!

Artists like Airi Suzuki, SKY-HI, and Yabai T-Shirts Yasan will take to the LUNA STAGE (*fee required), with virtual artists including Aoi Fuji appearing on the FUTURE STAGE (*fee required.)

Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters will also appear at CHILL PARK, each giving a mini live performance. The second artist lineup and performance timetable will be announced in early December.

From September 9 until November 1, Sanrio Puroland is celebrating the spookiest season of the year with the Puro Halloween event. On the first day of the event, guests immediately showed up to enjoy the new additions to the park, including the light show, Halloween photo spot, and an exclusive food menu filled with autumn flavors. 

The theme of this year’s event is the popular Halloween phrase “Trick or Treat!” Popular Sanrio characters are all dressed up in spooky costumes, with each joining Team Trick or Team Treat!

Along with these new shows, those looking for a fright can visit the Vampire Butler Cafe, Puroland’s first immersive horror show featuring handsome actors dressed as vampires. This will only be open after Puroland closes, and only on select dates. Younger children can also enjoy a special candy-catching event sure to excite!

Starting October 1, a Halloween version of the Mewkledreamy March stage show will wow audiences. Everyone’s favorite characters Mew, Peko, and Su will appear in new costumes, so don’t miss it!

In the Rainbow Hall on the third floor, guests can take pictures a bright orange and purple photo spot. In the Character Food Court on the first floor, new menu items are available, served on decorated tables. Starting July 15, Sanrio Puroland will premiere a new show, Nakayoku Connect. The unique hands-on experience will blend both the real and virtual worlds.

The interactive show Nakayoku Connect is set to introduce a new type of entertainment that combines a real live show filled with twinkling lights and lasers set to pop dance music with a virtual world. This is the first new show to be performed at Puro Village in three years, since Wish me mell’s Chance for You began in September 2019. This will also be the first time in about two years–since the temporary closure in 2020–that regular shows will be held in Puro Village during business hours.

For the first time ever, this show will be presented not only in Puroland, but virtually as well. Visitors are welcome to enjoy this unprecedented experimental show incorporating the world around us and the world inside the computer.

In Japanese, Nakayoku means ‘to care about friends’ and ‘to get along happily.’ The creators of the show believe that this is an important value to think about today, and visitors will enjoy seeing their favorite characters, from Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel to Bad Badtz-Maru and Kogimyun. The live and virtual shows will be performed simultaneously, and the characters will wear new costumes inspired by the concept of retro-futurism.

For a more immersive experience, the show will utilize a ‘fiber beam’ for the first time ever. Harmless to the body, the entirety of Puro Village will be illuminated, with the lights and animations linked to the show’s music. Come enjoy this brand-new experience!

Ever wanted to make your own Sanrio merch featuring your favorite character? Starting May 23, the official Puroland online store will launch the Sanrio Puroland Fan Workshop, allowing users to print their favorite characters onto any merch they like!

In Japanese, the word oshi is used to refer to a person’s favorite character or member of an idol group.

Fans of Sanrio characters have always come to Puroland to meet their favorites in person and to purchase goods. The Sanrio Puroland Fan Workshop can be used to create original merchandise featuring characters not often seen at Puroland. Visitors need only select an image of their favorite character and a base item to be shipped to their home at a later date.

A total of 18 different characters (some included in group images) and 96 images are available to choose from. By combining these images with the available items, over 384 combinations can be created! Customers can choose from T-shirts, tote bags, hand towels, and more.

Tokyo’s Sanrio Puroland has begun its annual Easter celebration! The oldies-themed Puro Easter event will run until July 5, 2022.

This year marks the third Puro Easter event, and the annual stage show has been revamped for 2022! ‘Egg ‘n’ Roll Easter! -BLAST’ will be performed in the Entertainment Hall on the first floor of the park. Fans of My Melody and Kuromi won’t want to miss out, as the popular characters will appear in brand new costumes.

An Easter-themed photo spot is located at the entrance to the 3rd floor with pop and retro style. Fans can participate in an Easter Egg Hunt mini-game, scavenging around Puro Village searching for eggs and collecting keywords to unlock an original video. Don’t miss out on new food and merchandise during the event period, with colorful curries and pasta perfect for filling hungry tummies. 

The 1st-floor Event Corner will also allow guests to interact with characters dressed in Easter costumes. Staff will be dressed in Easter outfits!

Sanrio Puroland’s online performance VIVA LA VALENTINE was first aired in February 2021. The event trended on Twitter and was incredibly popular, with many celebrities also speaking up about how much they loved the show. Due to popular demand, the event will be restreamed from February 5 to February 14 on the ZA streaming platform. Fans can watch the performance as many times as they like from the end of the performance until 20:00 the next day.

In addition, a screening will also be held at Sanrio Puroland on February 13. Archived footage from last year’s VIVA LA VALENTINE will be screened, as well as a live performance featuring characters performing to original music composed by Sayonara Ponytail, ZoZhit (Dos Monos), Kroi, and Tomggg. There will also be a grand send-off by characters and actors in VIVA LA VALENTINE costumes, so don’t miss taking some great photos!

Sanrio’s popular character Cinnamoroll is celebrating 20 years in 2022. Beloved since her original release in 2002, the character has won the Sanrio Character Award many times over the years. Sanrio and both the Sanrio Puroland and Harmonyland theme parks will celebrate the 20th anniversary for the entirety of 2022 with a variety of new projects and events!

Cinnamoroll and five of her friends will appear in new party-themed costumes for the event, and a special stage show photo session will be coming to the park.

Cinnamoroll 20th Anniversary in HARMONYLAND 

Sanrio Character Park Harmonyland in Hiji, Oita Prefecture, will also be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Cinnamoroll starting on March 5, 2022. The theme will be ‘blue skies,’ and will feature a meet and greet with Cinnamoroll in a new costume, new merchandise, and a special photo spot.

A new show, ‘Cinnamoroll’s Blue Sky Band,’ will begin on March 26, 2022. Details will be released on the theme park’s official website at the end of January 2022.

A New Cinnamoroll Exhibition is Coming!

To celebrate Cinnamoroll’s 15th Anniversary, the ‘Fluffy Cinnamoroll Exhibition’ has been touring the country since 2017. It is now being upgraded to the 20th Anniversary Edition, and will make its first appearance in Fukuoka, Okayama, and Izumo starting in March 2022.

Saki Ashizawa, a member of the virtual music production company RIOT MUSIC, will perform at Sanrio’s first-ever event in the metaverse ‘SANRIO Virtual Fes in Sanrio Puroland.’ The music and entertainment festival will take place on December 11 and 12, with Ashizawa taking the stage on December 12. 

Chosen as the second artist to perform on the 12th, Ashizawa will appear during the B3: FUTURE STAGE, which will blend both kawaii and futuristic space elements. Fans can also look forward to the Saki Ashizawa x Badtz-Maru collaboration figures for sale at the event’s digital store.

With a sharp and aggressive voice filled with passion, Ashizawa’s performances are one-of-a-kind. Singing since before she can remember, she’s said that singing is now the only way she knows how to live. Initially singing for fun, after meeting her current producer, she realized that even if she wasn’t perfect she could still connect with people through her music. In 2020, she decided to go pro and joined RIOT MUSIC. She continues to perform to connect with the audience’s heart.

Get ready for your trip to Virtual Sanrio Puroland! For the first time ever, Sanrio is teaming up with U.S. company VRChat for an entirely virtual music festival, SANRIO Virtual Fes in Sanrio Puroland on December 11 and December 12, 2021. Guests will be able to enjoy the event using a VR Headset, a PC, or a smartphone. 

The concert space will feature both live and virtual artists (VTubers), as well as popular Sanrio characters in a massive five-story underground space beneath Virtual Sanrio Puroland. Participants will also be able to transform their avatar into the Sanrio character of their choice during the event! High-fiving other concert-goers will result in an explosion of Hello Kitty bows, and there will be plenty of surprises during the music performances, so don’t miss it!

The lineup for the event includes Kizuna AI, Hatsune Miku+PinocchioP, AKB48(Team8), CHiCO with HoneyWorks, Haneru Inaba, Kaede Higuchi, KMNZ, VALSHE, Hakushi Hasegawa, YuNi, Pasocom Music Club, Mom, Megu Shinonome, AMOKA, Yukichi Kasaku/men, LAUSBUB, and Kinu. ‘The Puro Christmas’ Musical Show

Guests will be treated to an entire world of Sanrio characters within a glittering snow globe, and each of them will be wearing limited-edition Christmas costumes. Seasonal photo spots and opportunities to spend time with characters will line the space, along with Christmas trees and other holiday decorations!

The special Christmas food menu features a Santa Claus theme and dishes are dotted with red and green. Exclusive snow globe-themed merchandise available for purchase includes keychains, pins, and sweets that are perfect to give as a gift this holiday season. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sanrio’s popular Golden Retriever character Pompompurin, Sanrio Puroland will hold a two-day picnic event in Tama Central Park on November 6 and November 13, 2021!

The picnic will allow fans to spend some quality time with their favorite character while enjoying the lush greenery of Tama Central Park, located right next to Sanrio Puroland. Guests can chow down on the special Yellow Bun Teri-Mayo Burger, bone-in sausage, fried chicken, and a healthy salad while snapping pictures of the scenery. A limited-edition T-shirt will be available, along with a picnic mat and some cute Pompompurin figures, so don’t miss out!

The PURO HALLOWEEN menu utilizes plenty of fall goodies like pumpkin and sweet potato. After eating your fill, pick up some country-style merchandise featuring Sanrio characters enjoying the pumpkin harvest! Limited-edition goods feature these new illustrations, and can only be bought during the event period. The Sanrio Puroland Online Shop will also begin selling original goods starting September 3, and limited-edition Acrylic Stands (13 varieties) will only be available online.

Sanrio Puroland is also collaborating with Gyuunyuu, a popular manga artist and illustrator on social media. The artist created an original character, Pumpkin-chan, for the event, and the little girl will be joining Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll in various places throughout the park.

The collab game ‘Let’s Go to the Pumpkin Party!’ will ask guests to complete an original comic strip by solving puzzles while exploring Puroland, perfect for children and parents. (Fee required for collab game.)
