Porno Graffiti members Akihito Okano (vocals) and Haruichi Shindo (guitar) are to release Japanese lyrics for the Japanese version of an original album from Mayday, a superband that boasts immense popularity throughout Asia. Moreover, Akihito is to provide guest vocals in a collaboration for the album.

The album is scheduled to be released this autumn (it went on sale on July 21st in Taiwan). Akihito Okano will sing in Japanese for the track “Here, After, Us”, while Haruichi Shindo will be in charge of the lyrics for “Party Animal”.

Porno Graffiti decided to work on these Japanese lyrics after their performance at the music festival “SUPER SLIPPA” held in Taiwan last month. Both of the members began talking about it during this time and have brought it to life with this collaboration. Mayday as a whole are very much looking forward to the collaboration, and it will be interesting to see what kind of effect it will have on Taiwan’s big artists with Akihito and Haruichi providing Japanese lyrics.

This is the first time I have been in charge of another artist’s lyrics, and not to mention it’s one of the biggest artists in Asia, so I can really feel the responsibility. However, although it’s an artist in a different country, I do feel the feelings and emotions of being an artist, as well as being able to convey things via music. And I’m glad to be able to feel those things.

Mayday are active not just in Taiwan but the whole of Asia, and I hear that their lyrics are part of their popularity, so it’s an honour to be in charge of those lyrics.
