It has been announced that HiHi Jets―a unit from Johnny’s Jr. which is a company that owns artists that have not yet official debuted―will perform the opening and ending themes for the upcoming TV anime series Bakugan: Battle Planet.
Bakugan: Battle Planet is an ongoing Canadian-Japanese-American animated series that serves as a reboot to the original 2007-2012 anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers. The series is set 12 years after The Great Collision where battle monsters known as Bakugan begin their “awakening.” It follows the Awesome Ones, a group of friends who stumble across these beings and must learn how to work with them to combat the the evil forces.
The anime’s opening theme song is entitled Jounetsu Jamboree which HiHi Jets performed for the first time for the JOHNNYS’ Experience event held at Tokyo Dome City Hall on March 6, 2019. The song evokes the same exciting feeling that the anime does with its battles.
The ending theme, Be my story, is centred around the protagonist and his friends and their way-paving into the future through teamwork.
Below are comments from the HiHi Jets members beginning with Ryuuto Sakuma on the far left of the photo and working right.
Ryuuto Sakuma: “I am full of happiness in getting the chance to perform the main themes for the anime Bakugan. It’s a series that I watched as a kid, so I get excited thinking that it will be our song playing in it. It’s the kind of song that all the little kids will be humming, so please look forward to hearing it!”
Mizuki Inoue: “When I first heard that we would be doing this I couldn’t contain my joy and surprise. This song Jounetsu Jamboree is one that both kids and adults can enjoy, so I would be overjoyed if they sing it together in front of the TV [laughs]. This is an enormous opportunity for us, so I want to set off a HiHi Jets boom for lots of people to get to know us!”
Yuuto Takahashi: “I am extremely honoured to be able to sing the theme songs for Bakugan, a series loved by so many people around the world. The songs are catchy enough that you will be humming them, so I’m looking forward to them like everyone else. We will give this everything we’ve got so that people will be glad that HiHi Jets were chosen to perform the songs.”
Ryou Hashimoto: “I’m so honoured that we, HiHi Jets, are performing the main themes for the famous Bakugan. I played Bakugan when I was younger, so when I first heard we would be doing this I screamed “Yes!” out loud. Theme songs are a very important thing to people who watch anime, so we will work hard so that people can enjoy and remember them!”
Souya Igari: “When I first heard that we would be doing this, I couldn’t comprehend the enormity of the task and was left with doubt wondering if it was a prank. But things went ahead, and when I heard the songs, it was a huge realisation, and I gushed with happiness. I will put my all into this so that this big chance serves as the curtain that opens to spread the word of HiHi Jets.”
