  • New Trailer Released for Anime Movie ‘Promare’

    05.April.2019 | ANIME&GAME / MOVIE / MUSIC

Promare is an upcoming animated film by Studio Trigger being made in collaboration with XFLAG. It is directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima, both of who worked on Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill. A brand new trailer has just dropped detailing new information.

The film’s opening and ending themes will be performed by Superfly, a Japanese rock act now consisting of sole member Shiho Ochi lauded for her overwhelming vocal ability and original songwriting.

The soul-shaking main theme Kakusei (“Awakening”) is Superfly’s first ever song written for an anime movie. Superfly comments: “I felt that the film doesn’t merely depict stirred-up battles. It also feels like it’s about humanity, so the song is not about fighting to hurt someone, but protect them. The song of course sounds cool and the melody is interesting too sort of like a collage. It’s something people haven’t seen from Superfly before. It’s become something completely new.”

Superfly’s powerful voice coupled with the melody which flickers like a flame―a theme of the movie itself―serves to kindle the exciting fire the film spouts.

In the new trailer we see the lead character Galo Thymos (Kenichi Matsuyama), a new member of the Burning Rescue team, fighting against Lio Fotia (Taichi Saotome), the leader of Burnish Flare, to try and extinguish her flame.

The action scenes draw a line under all Japanese animation up to now, showcasing revolutionary visuals as we have come to expect from Studio Trigger.

The anime is set to deliver plenty of action and drama on an immense scale. Promare will be released on May 24, 2019.
