The fair at Odakyu Department Store will be called Odakyu no Tanabata.

Hi everyone, this is Midori from MMN’s Editorial Department. Are you familiar with Japan’s Star Festival called Tanabata? According to a legend that originated in China, two deities who were in love called Orihime and Hikoboshi could only meet once every year. Their meeting is represented by the stars Vega and Altair. Their meeting is celebrated yearly in Japan with the Star Festival. To join in the celebration, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea are holding a special event to celebrate called Tanabata Days . This event will run from June 6 to July 7, 2019. Today I'm going to introduce you to the limited edition sweet treats you can indulge in during the Tanabata Days festival period.
Shaved Ice with Cream: ¥550

Next is a drink that is limited to Boiler Room Bites and Captain Hook's Galley: The Sparkling Jelly Drink! It will leave you feeling refreshed and full of summer vibes. Hi everyone, this is Midori from MMN's Editorial Department. Are you familiar with Japan's Star Festival called Tanabata? According to a legend that originated in China, two deities that were in love called Orihime and Hikoboshi could only meet once every year. Their meeting is represented by the stars Vega and Altair. To celebrate the Star Festival, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea are holding a special event to celebrate called Tanabata Days . This event will run from June 6 to July 7, 2019. There will be so much going on, but one thing I'm super excited about is the Tanabata Greeting Parade! From Mickey and Minnie who will make an entrance by rickshaw, there are so many characters you just have to see.
Mickey and Minnie will be dressed as the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi. Mickey and Minnie are always riding the giant floats at parades. As the rickshaw is so small in comparison to the floats, this is an opportunity to feel closer to them both. Mickey and Minnie's friends will be joining in the celebration in a completely brand new way. They will be dressed in Japanese-style clothes holding bamboo leaves. Donald and Daisy will be on the floats, but all the others will be taking part in the parade on foot! This is a fantastic way to get up close to your favourite characters. Disney Princes and Princesses will also be making an appearance at the Tanabata Greeting Parade. On a normal day, you can sometimes see the princes and princesses around the park greeting the guests, however seeing a princess walking romantically with her prince is a completely rare and precious sight! The princesses will also not be riding on the floats so you can feel close to them. Happily Ever After ♡ The music includes Disney arrangements of children's Star Festival songs such as Bamboo Leaves are Rustling (Sasanoha Sarasara) and the nostalgic Tanabata Sama. These are songs that Japanese people grew up with and have heard many times. The park will definately deliver a very special arrangment of these songs! Come enjoy the fun of the star festival this year with your favourite Disney characters!© Disney Information

Last year, Starry Night Company (SNC) brought the Tanabata Sky Lantern Festival to Osaka. This year, they are set to host it in Tokyo and Osaka simultaneously on July 6 and 7. A total of 20,000 individual lanterns will be released over the two-day period in an even bigger and better festival than before. Most lantern events held around the world use lanterns lit with fire, but for this event LED sky lanterns will be used to ensure safety. All lanterns are also fitted with a cord. One of Japan's major lantern festivals, the event is made possible by SNC who developed the world's first LED sky lantern.
Japanese actors Sho Aoyagi and Tsubasa Sakiyama will feature as guest speakers at the events. Sky lanterns offer an entirely different kind of experience from other Japanese cultural traditions, such as summer fireworks. Those in Japan this summer won't regret taking their special someone to this sky lantern festival. Information

Celebrate the traditional Japanese festival of Tanabata at Tokyo Disney Resort – the annual “Disney Tanabata Days” begins on June 15th!
“Disney Tanabata Days” starts on June 15th, 2017 at Tokyo Disney Resort. Tanabata, also called the “Star Festival,” celebrates the meeting of Orihime and Hikoboshi, two deities said to be separated by the Milky Way who are only allowed to meet once a year – on the seventh day of the seventh month. “Tanabata Days” is a romantic event held annually at Tokyo Disney Resort. Micky Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be dressed up as the two lovers and will give a special Tanabata greeting parade to pray for everyone’s wishes to come true.
Since ancient times, when Tanabata comes around, people write their wishes on long, narrow strips of card and decorate bamboo branches with them. You’ll be able to do this at Disney Tanabata Days too by choosing from 10 different “Wishing Cards” that have Micky and Minnie illustrations drawn on them.
All the Wishing Cards available at Tokyo Disney Land® and Tokyo DisneySea® have Micky and Minnie Mouse designs on them, and you can get one over at the “Wishing Place” where the cast will be dressed up in yukata handing them out for free. Grab yourself a Wishing Card to write down your dreams and wishes and tie them up at the Wishing Place.
If you spend over ¥3,000 on one or more of the special pieces of Disney Tanabata Days merchandise, you’ll receive a unique Wishing Card. The Wishing Card designs are different at Tokyo Disney Land and Tokyo DisneySea, so don’t forget to check out both. If you’re done having fun shopping, why not write down your dreams and wishes on your own unique Wishing Card?
When you order from one of the special Tanabata themed menus at Tokyo Disneyland’s “Restaurant Hokusai” or Tokyo DisneySea’s “Restaurant Sakura” or “S.S. Columbia Dining Room,” you can also receive an original Wishing Card unique to each park.
The restaurant over at the Disney Hotel is participating too. People who order from the target menu can receive a Wishing Card. Designs include Chip ‘n’ Dale and Clarice wearing special costumes specially for Tanabata.
Disney never fail to light the fun in everyone’s hearts. Before you even enter the park, you are filled with indescribable excitement. The cast will be out and about at each station’s designated “Wishing Place” along the Disney Resort Line handing out Wishing Cards. It makes you want to get on the Resort Line even if you had no plan to, right?!
Tanabata is a once a year celebration, so why not spend it during Tokyo Tanabata Days and write your wonderful wishes on a Wishing Card together with that special someone?

Hi, everyone. I'm Midori, part of the editorial team here at MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON. Tanabata, also known at the Star Festival, is a traditional annual festival in Japan which celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and and Hikoboshi who are only able to see each other once a year. Right now at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea a special Tanabata event is being held called "Tanabata Days." It began on June 6 and will run until July 7. During the Tanabata season in Japan, people write their wishes on tanzaku, small pieces of paper, and hang them up before praying to the stars. If you head on over to Tokyo Disneyland right now you can do just that!
At the entrance to Tokyo Disneyland in the World Bazaar is the "Wishing Place" where guests are invited to jot down their wishes. You'll find it by spotting the two Tanabata decorations of Mickey and Minnie. If you look really close you'll see that the characters are holding their own washing cards too. Be sure to sneak a peek♡ You'll also find Donald and Daisy to the side of Cinderella's castle. Guests can get their own wishing cards from one of the cast members dressed in yukata. The cards are yellow. The cast also have pens and desks prepared for guests too. Once you've written your wish the next step is to hang it at the Wishing Place. The colours of the cards are different at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Perhaps your wish will be granted? When the evening settles in the Wishing Place is lit up and renamed the Starlight Wishing Place. The illuminations represent the stars and constellations that float in the Milky Way, all references to Tanabata. You're sure to enjoy a magical and romantic Tanabata at this event, so be sure to check it out. The visuals and lights are of course gorgeous, but the music is wonderful! Perhaps your dream to the stars will come true at Disneyland's Wishing Place♪© Disney Information
