Sanrio launched its #HelloGlobalGoals (#HelloSDGs) co-project with the United Nations at the UN headquarters on September 24 which sees their popular character Hello Kitty helping to spread the words about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 to be reached by the year 2030. This includes “No Poverty,” “Zero Hunger,” “Climate Action” and so on. Since September last year, Hello Kitty has been helping to promote SDGs on her YouTube channel as part of Japan's involvement in the global efforts. The UN recognised this, and had Hello Kitty join them at the headquarters in New York at the SDG Media Zone presentation, which was attended by people around the world, where they announced #HelloGlobalGoals. Hello Kitty dressed up in the SDG promotional colours and appeared alongside Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, who expressed her wish for more people around the world to come to learn about SDGs, as well as to create a world where everybody can get along harmoniously and with kindness. At the event, all 17 goals were showcased on a huge art piece featuring Hello Kitty to break the project down and make it easier for people to understand. Up to now, Hello Kitty has posted videos about what Japan has been doing for the SDGs on her channel, but now she will begin posting about countries around the world at the behest of Amina Mohammed in a new video series as shown above. From September 21 to October 11, three KIDDYLAND stores will be holding a fair dedicated to the anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which has become a big hit overseas. The series, which was created by Fuse, aired two seasons from October 2018 to March 2019. It has been confirmed that a sequel will be made in the year 2020. Following the anime's successful reception, a novel version of the anime series which goes by the same name was produced by GOT A CHANCE novel. More than 14 million copies have been sold so far. The story follows an extraordinary event which happened to a normal man. The main character Satoru Mikami died to random knife attack and was reincarnated as a monster called a slime. The series became massively popular once the adorable figure of the main character as a slime was revealed.

A café based on the popular anime Sarazanmai is coming to Tokyo on September 19 and Osaka on September 26 and will run for a limited time only. The café designs were produced by Sanrio.
Sarazanmai is a TV anime which was produced by animation studios MAPPA and Lapin Track. The anime became incredibly popular when it aired between April and June 2019 on the Fuji TV programming block Noitamina. The last episode was met by an undying stream of grateful messages from fans and even those involved in the creation of the series. Sanrio produced Sarazanmai designs which are perfect for the traditional coffee shop theme and the retro Asakusa atmosphere of the series. The Metaverse event that was a smash hit in 2021 will be returning in 2023! Sanrio Virtual Festival 2023 in Sanrio Puroland, one of the world’s largest music festivals blending both the real and virtual worlds, will be held starting January 13, 2023. A lineup of high-profile performers has been announced, including Airi Suzuki, SKY-HI, Yabai T-Shirts Yasan, and Aoi Fuji. Popular Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi will also appear, and visitors will be able to experience the virtual Puroland by utilizing unique avatars and taking part in a number of exciting events. The 2021 event was incredibly popular, and the 2023 version will increase the duration and amount of content available. To do this, Puroland has joined forces with VRChat, a well-known US company and social platform. Sanrio is largely to thank for this, and the beloved company has announced that the 60th Anniversary Sanrio Exhibition will open at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art from February 11 until April 2, 2023. The #KuromifyTheWorld campaign is already one year old! Created to share the adorable Sanrio character Kuromi with the world, fans will be invited to celebrate this milestone from October 20 until October 31 with special events in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. Kuromi’s Drink Stand will be open for a limited time in Tokyo and Osaka. Customers will be invited to choose the color of their drink according to their mood, and will also be able to customize it with tags, acrylic stands, and stickers! An original photo spot will also be set up beside each drink stand, and those wanting to attend can enter the lottery to win tickets now.
Sanrio’s first and largest Kuromi ad truck will also be driving through the streets of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka during the event week. Kuromi will also be teaming up with (G)I-DLE, a popular five-member global idol group from South Korea. Campaigns are planned to appear in Hangzhou, Suzhou, Taiwan, Korea, North America, and Europe.
