It has been announced that chelmico will perform the opening theme song Easy Breezy for the upcoming anime series Eizouken ni wa Te o Dasu na! which is set to begin airing on January 5, 2020. The song will be released as a digital single on January 17, 2020.
chelmico is a rap duo formed by Rachel and Mamiko. The group released their second album Fishing back in summer and promoted it with a sold-out 6-date hall tour across Japan.
The anime adaptation of Eizouken ni wa Te o Dasu na! Is being directed by Masaaki Yuasa (Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, Ping Pong: The Animation). In Japan, the original manga series won the 2017 Bros Comic Awards, placed No. 1 on the 2017 My Best Manga Grand-Prix, and was nominated for the 2018 Manga Taishō Awards.
Japanese actress Sairi Itō will voice the main character Midori Asakusa. The series will also receive a live-action adaptation in the early summer of 2020.
chelmico released a statement regarding their involvement with the anime series: “We were asked to give some comments, but even now we can’t put our joy into words. It’s crazy how our rap music is being used for Sumito Owara’s manga seriesーand for director Masaaki Yuasa’s animation. We’re proud to be part of the ‘Ultimate World.’ We thought long and hard on the rapping and overall making of the song so that it reflects the spirit of the characters in the series. Everyone!! We’ve made a really cool song so please listen to it!!”
Sumito Owara, the author of the original manga, also commented on chelmico’s song: “[…] The lyrics are the best. They’re powerful like a raging bulldozer. It’s a song I want everyone to listen to, because it’s one that will turn anyone who listens to it into the strongest. It’s one of those opening themes you can’t skip.”
