The highly-anticipated anime film adaptation of the popular idol rhythm and adventure game Tokyo 7th Sisters is set for limited release this summer. The anime is entitled Tokyo 7th Sisters -Bokura wa Aozora ni Naru-.
The “idol-raising rhythm and adventure” game launched back in 2014 and has over 2 million registered users. Players take on the role of the new manager at Studio 777 to scout for promising idol girls. The game features 50 idols and the story scenario spans over 500 episodes. It has also garnered huge attention for its soundtrack with over 90 original songs produced for the game.
The game’s high quality music has led to over 20 singles and 5 albums that have received both physical and digital releases. The voice cast has performed live ten times since 2015, even selling out the prestigious venues Makuhari Messe and Nippon Budokan. Their performances have been released on CD, DVD, and Blu-ray with high sales.
Some of the music videos featured in the game have been turned into animations, but this will be the first full-length anime film. It will be a completely original story that spans 70 minutes and focuses on the game’s main unit 777☆SISTERS. Shintaro Motegi, who worked on the game’s story, script, music and much more, is writing the script and producing the music for the upcoming anime film.
