23.March.2017 | SPOT

Studio Ghibli is one of the most popular animation studios in Japan after creating hits such as “Princess Mononoke” and “Howl’s Moving Castle.” Now the studio’s Ghibli Museum in western Tokyo is celebrating its 15th year with a new exhibition.

“All Aboard! The Cat Bus to the Ghibli Forest” will bring together pieces from its past 14 exhibits for fans to see all at once. The collection, which will run until May 2017, will include concept art, a model plane and Howl’s castle.

The highlight will be the Catbus from “My Neighbor Totoro” that guests can walk through and sit in. And after a recent remodeling during the summer of 2016, Studio Ghibli is hoping visitors will take the “Totoro”-themed bus from Mitaka Station and head to the Ghibli Museum to see the new upgrades. • Welcome the season with sushi

The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, a Luxury Collection hotel in Tokyo, is offering the “Karin Temarisushi” sushi lunch plan — inspired by flower gardens — until May 31.

The plan consists of nine kinds of sushi elegantly placed on a two-tiered tea stand, three appetizers and two seasonal Japanese unbaked sweets.

A blooming flower (hana) serves as the inspiration for hanasushi and heart-shaped sushi offers three layers of different fillings.

A dragon roll made of rice, cream cheese, cooked conger eel and sliced avocado provides a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The appetizers consist of such treats as deep-fried Camembert, a monthly mousse and tender cooked octopus.

  • Radwimps were the perfect choice when it came to soundtracking ‘Your Name.’

Yokohama Arena feels special on this chilly Tuesday night in early March. It’s here that Radwimps — a rock outfit from Kanagawa Prefecture whose members could bike to this very venue when they were teens — are playing the first of two sold-out shows.

The group — featuring vocalist-guitarist Yojiro Noda, guitarist Akira Kuwahara, bassist Yusuke Takeda and drummer Satoshi Yamaguchi (though he has been on hiatus since 2015 due to a neurological disorder) — reminisces frequently during the show on their youth and watching gigs at this venue in the early 2000s. They play songs from across their career, touching on everything from pop-punk to experiments in electronica.

Yet the arena responds loudest to songs from “Your Name.,” the animated film about body-swapping teenagers for which Radwimps provided the soundtrack. When it comes time for “Zenzenzense,” the track most associated with the anime, excitement boils over.

Let’s be clear: Radwimps were already big. Since releasing their eponymous debut album in 2003, they’ve morphed from fledgling four-piece to album charts fixture. They did this by darting between styles: reggae-dappled numbers mixed with somber ballads and a rap-rock song that references Eddie Murphy.
