Japanese artist Takada Bear has teamed up with American singer-songwriter Katy Perry to create a short animation featuring their popular Ketakuma characters which were created for the LINE messenger app. The song, in which they dance to the singer’s latest track Smile, can be watched on Takada Bear’s official Instagram and Twitter pages.
Takada Bear collaborated with the singer before on another short animation back in May 2017 on her sing Bon Appétit (Official) ft. Migos. Katy Perry shared the post on her Twitter page which racked up much attention. At the time, she was the most followed person on Twitter worldwide. Today, she sits as the third most followed person, but the number one most followed woman.
Katy Perry released her sixth studio album Smile on August 28, 2020. The lead track Smile features as the song for Takada Bear’s new animation, which brings together the Ketakuma and Ketawan along with a clown—which is the concept of the cover art for Katy Perry’s album.
When Smile, the hit lead track hit 10 million streams worldwide in under a month. It currently has over 31 million plays on Spotify (as of October 2020). “Now it’s your turn to clown around,” the singer announced on Instagram. “Use my IG lens and show me ur #SMILE.”
