“Meishu Center” to open in Ochanomizu for lovers of Japanese sake – over 120 varieties to choose from!

22.May.2017 | FOOD

A new “Meishu Center” is going to open in Ochanomizu in July – just 7 minutes’ walk from Akihabara Sation and only 5 minutes from Ochanomizu Station near Kanda Shrine.

The Meishu Center is a place where you can take a seat, get comfortable and enjoy tasting different kinds of Japanese sake. It’s an unbeatable opportunity to enjoy the marriage between sake and food, and a chance to learn the customs on how to drink sake to enjoy it to its full potential.

The great thing about Japanese sake is how well it goes with food, from whichever country, due to its broad taste; whether it’s a delicious cup to go with your evening meal, or making a toast to celebrate something special, or drinking to remember a deceased love one to say thanks. Japanese sake has been a staple of Japanese cuisine for hundreds of years and so has been enjoyed throughout many different occasions over the years. That’s where the Meishu Center comes in – it was born out of a desire to enjoy such a special drink in everyday life, not just during important celebrations.

The store also staffs non-Japanese people who wield an abundant knowledge of sake, so they can converse with customers and explain anything to do with sake in English.

Meishu Center houses over 120 kinds of sake from 41 different brewers so you can enjoy the unique flavours of every drink you try.

To accompany the grand opening, there are numerous ongoing campaigns. You can receive a sake tasting ticket from the crowdfunding service Makuake, as well as an invitation ticket to the opening event where you can try out different drinks and hear the backstories behind the brewers and how they make their sake, and you can even reserve to see and experience the new Meishu Center before anyone else.

From people who are new to Japanese sake to the connoisseurs – find your favourite drink at the sake theme park that is the Meishu Center.
