Starting on August 11, Chibi Maruko-chan Land in Shizuoka will begin a series of events in collaboration with Rascal the Raccoon! Exclusive merchandise will be on sale during the event period, so fans of either franchise won’t want to miss out.

Rascal has come to play in the world of Chibi Maruko-chan! Nakano-san is a little afraid of the animal, but Rascal tries to calm him down. This adorable imagery is everywhere, and everyone’s favorite raccoon meets a ton of popular characters from the Maruko-chan anime and manga series, so be sure to take a look!

On opening day, Maruko and Rascal will greet guests at the entrance. A photo session will be available for guests with admission tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.

For a limited time only, the projection mapping area in the park will host a Chibi Maruko-chan Carnival dance event with Maruko and Rascal!

Animate Cafe is known for collaborating with popular anime and video game franchises. Starting February 9, Animate Cafe Stand Hareza Ikebukuro will open a collaborative cafe with the popular Mr. Osomatsu series until February 28. Osomatsu-kun is a comedy manga series by Fujio Akatsuka which was rebooted in 2015 with the anime series Mr. Osomatsu (also known as Osomatsu-san). A second season aired between 2017-2018 and an anime film, Osomatsu-san the Movie, was released in 2019. The series follows the sextuplet Matsuno brothers as they get into hilarious antics. A live-action film is scheduled to be released in March 2022.

The animated character Rascal the Raccoon is a beloved figure in Japan. Based on the 1963 novel Rascal, A Memoir of a Better Era by Sterling North, Nippon Animation created the adorable character that fans know today. In 2022, Rascal is celebrating his 45th anniversary, and a number of events will be held throughout the year.

In 1977, the anime aired as the third entry in the World Masterpiece Theater series. Set in Wisconsin, it tells the story of a young boy named Sterling and his raccoon Rascal as they spend a year together. 

New art has been prepared for the festivities with a nostalgic feel. This is sure to appeal to adults who watched Rascal as children, and this summer, a merchandise event in Tokyo will focus on items printed with this ‘classic design.’ This event will then travel around Japan!

Rascal the Raccoon x Kabuki

For the Kabuki collaboration, two pieces of unique art have been created with classical theater motifs. From butterflies to umbrellas, these pieces of traditional art are sure to appeal to both Japanese fans and international fans alike. Goods will be produced featuring this art, so keep an eye out!

Collaboration Cafe

In the summer of 2022, Rascal will team up with LOCAL BASE, a cafe and hotel in Miyakojima, Okinawa, for a collaboration cafe. Inside the cafe, guests will be able to see images from the anime series. 

World Masterpiece Theater x Felissimo

The second collaboration collection between Felissimo and World Masterpiece Theater is now available to buy online.

In addition to ‘Anne of Green Gables,’ ‘Rascal the Raccoon,’ and ‘A Dog of Flanders,’ the second volume includes ‘Princess Sara’ and ‘Tales of Little Women.’ The items include a one-piece dress and cape, a scarf, a mask case featuring Rascal, and more.

The escape game, which is called “Escape From the Black Market Empire,” features an original voiced story (recorded by the original voice actors) that has players using their smartphones to communicate with the six Matsuno siblings. They must work with them to help repay their debt.

The event also has its own exclusive merchandise. In Fukuoka, it will be held at SPACE on the Station on the 6th floor of SOLARIA STAGE which is located not even a minutes’ walk from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station.

In promotion of the anime adaptation of Gaku Kuze’s manga series Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan, a merchandise collection was released in collaboration with Nippon Animation’s series Rascal the Raccoon on July 9 at Shinjuku Marui Annex. The items will also be released at Nanba Marui and Hakata Marui on July 24 and August 7 respectively.

Datsugoku Gokko is a multiplayer game that launched in September 2019 and has over 6 million downloads as of April 2021. Featuring over 30 different game modes, the game is a mix of werewolves and escape.

In this special crossover event with Rascal the Raccoon, players can enjoy a variety of themed content from accessories to an all-out raid against Rascal himself. KADOKAWA has announced that it’s taking the Mr. Osomatsu themed hotel room from EJ Anime Hotel at Tokorozawa Sakura Town in Saitama, which ran from December 3, 2020 to March 31, 2021, to six hotels in Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Hakata starting on April 28.

The ‘EJ’ of EJ Anime Hotel stands for ‘Entertainment Japan.’ The hotel aims to have guests living inside the stories they love from a wide range of Japanese media from anime to manga, movies, tokusatsu SFX movies, idol culture, and more. As well as room decorations and the exclusive merch that will be on sale, the hotel is also offering a new kind of accommodation experience by incorporating videos, sounds, lighting, and more.
