ONE PIECE, a manga running in the Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine for 24 years, will be releasing its 100th volume on September 3 2021.l, while the 1000th episode of the anime will be aired on November 21. To commemorate this major milestone, the franchise will be starting a number of grand projects to ‘connect’ with the world.
One of those grand projects is the ‘WE ARE ONE.’ mini series, with five videos co-produced by Toei Animation and Shueisha to be released starting on August 30, counting down until the release of the 100th volume on September 3.
The videos are directed by Ninagawa Mika, who has won a selection of awards within Japan and overseas for her vivid and colorful videos. Accepting the challenge to take charge of this unprecedented video project, the live action shots featuring known actors were directed by Ninagawa while the anime shots were produced by Toei Animation. The videos show off a new side to the wonderful world of ONE PIECE. RADWIMPS new song TWILIGHT will be used as the theme song as four protagonists step into the future in this short drama collection.
Scene1 is an animation featuring Zoro and Sanji of the Straw Hats. The pair usually bicker, but when they’re faced with losing their companions during the Davy Black Fight, the two join together to protect their gang. One the pair have decided to help make Luffy’s dream of becoming the pirate king come true, nobody can stop them!

I feel like there are people who have read the series deeply, as well as those who happened to discover it, and those who are yet to read but are still able to sympathize with the story. I will be happy if everybody can enjoy the videos.

There are so many adults like us who grew up reading ONE PIECE, as well as students and parents, with all of us just trying to achieve our goals and targets each day. I feel that during those days, the ONE PIECE characters have always helped us to keep on pushing forward. It is my hope that this project will help people feel a little stronger when facing the future.

Netflix has announced that it will release the live-action adaptation of One Piece worldwide in 2023.
One Piece is one of Japan's most popular and long-running manga series. Created by Eiichiro Oda, the manga has sold over 500 million copies worldwide.
The series was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997, starting with the protagonist Monkey D. Luffy going on a journey with the Straw Hat Pirates to find the One Piece, a treasure that was left behind by the legendary “Pirate King” Gol D. Roger.
The live-action project has gained a ton of attention on social media, with the cast being revealed in 2022. As the world awaits more production news, the first live-action visuals have been released along with the news that the series is coming in 2023.
Following the hugely positive feedback for ONE PIECE FILM RED, fans are ready to see the Monkey D. Luffy once again in the first episode of the Netflix series titled ROMANCE DAWN – Dawn of Adventure-.
In the original series, Luffy, who admires the great pirate Shanks after meeting him in his hometown of Foosha as a child, decides to become the Pirate King, taking to the open seas to make his dream come true.
During his unpredictable adventures, Luffy meets a group of friends who he can always trust.
The newly-released visual shows Luffy (played by Iñaki Godoy) in his trademark straw hat, raising his right fist to the sky.
On his Instagram page, Godoy often posts pictures of his friends and fellow cast members including Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro) and Jacob Gibson (Usopp). Fans have been largely pleased with the casting choices.
The extraordinary success of ONE PIECE FILM RED made headlines in 2022, as the film topped the yearly box office in Japan. It finally ended its theatrical run on January 29.

Japanese rock band RADWIMPS dropped the official soundtrack for Makoto Shinkai's film Suzume no Tojimari on November 11, 2022, the same day of the movie's release. The film is Shinkai’s first in three years and is a coming-of-age story that follows a girl named Suzume as she travels to disaster-stricken locations around Japan, closing doors to keep those nearby safe. Suzume Iwato, the heroine, will be played by Nanoka Hara, while Hokuto Matsumura will portray Souta Munakata. The film is now in theaters. RADWIMPS and world-renowned film music composer Kazuma Jinnouchi collaborated on the soundtrack. Some recording for the film was done overseas at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London, a first for a Shinkai film. In addition to the film’s theme songs Kanata Haruka and Suzume feat. Toaka, the soundtrack contains 25 songs from the film including Tamaki and Suzume no Namida, sung by Yojiro Noda. These songs were created during the film’s production but weren’t included in the movie itself. The soundtrack is now available on iTunes and other major music streaming sites. From August 6 until October 20, 2022, the APPI Kogen Ski Resort in Iwate Prefecture is hosting a special art project titled A Butterfly’s Journey: Embracing Lights. Mika Ninagawa, a leading Japanese photographer active in film, design, and fashion, has teamed up with Hiroaki Miyata, a professor at Keio University’s School of Medicine and the man behind the theme project at the Japan Expo 2025. Miyata produced the exhibition and video works, and the exhibition itself focuses on sustainable art concepts. A large-scale video installation uses the site’s abandoned ski lift station as a canvas, wowing audiences. Don’t miss the many photographs on display as well!

Anime director Makoto Shinkai and popular rock band RADWIMPS are teaming up for the third time, and fans are thrilled. The group will perform the theme for Shinkai’s upcoming film Suzuka no Tojimari, set to be released on November 11. The theme, Suzume feat. Toaka, is now available to stream on all major music streaming sites. The theme can be heard in the film’s trailer, and features Toaka, a famous female singer known for her appearances on TikTok. “I felt a connection between Toaka and this song. No one else could come close,” RADWIMPS vocalist Yojiro Noda commented. Suzume no Tojimari, Shinkai’s first new film in three years, is a coming-of-age story, following a girl named Suzume as she travels to disaster-stricken locations around Japan, closing doors to keep those nearby safe.
