Digimon Illustration Competition Open to Japan and United States Residents

Digimon Con, an online event held by Bandai, will be held in February 2022! The event will be open to fans around the world, and the Digimon Illustration Competition is now open to fans of the series in Japan and the United States.

This free online event will feature a unique lineup of content related to the long-running Digimon franchise, including an anime segment, a game information segment, a live performance, and more!

Digimon Illustration Competition

Starting December 17, fans from both the US and Japan can send in their best Digimon art until February 7, 2022. Detailed information, including requirements, can be found on the special Digimon Illustration Competition website!

    Illustrator BEY’s solo exhibition ‘NEW WAMERICAN’ will be held at TRUNK (HOTEL) in Shibuya starting November 1.    BEY is known for his illustrations inspired by the ‘Wamerican’ theme, a blend of Japanese culture, including ukiyo-e, and American pop culture.   • Klang Ruler Releases Trillion Game-Inspired ‘Unbelievable EP’

    On December 25, Klang Ruler will release the Unbelievable EP, including the new song Unbelievable, used as the ending theme for the TBS anime series Trillion Game. The series began on October 3.    The EP will be inspired by Trillion Game and include new songs like Honey Money, Gimme Gimme, Placeless Boy, and Tired.    A teaser video for Unbelievable with narration from Trillion Game has also been released. 
    October 2, 2024The music video for Unbelievable has been released. The video, directed by the alternative collective GROUPN, retains the vibes of the anime series, with the members of Klang Ruler dressed as salarymen as they attempt to overcome their colleagues to become the best.
  • Mitsui Shopping Park’s LaLaport TOKYO-BAY to Collaborate with meeco

    In collaboration with illustrator meeco, LaLaport TOKYO-BAY is currently holding the cashless ‘AUTUMN FESTA 2023 Find Happiness;’ event for the entire month of September.   In a special area of the shopping center, the latest fall items and fashions will be displayed along with an art exhibit dedicated to meeco’s creations. Visitors will receive an original card featuring a new illustration by meeco (while supplies last).   Be sure to browse the special website for more details.
  • Illustrator Natsumi Sato Opens New Solo Exhibition

    Natsumi Sato’s “peloringirl series,” featuring girls sticking out their tongues in vivid pop colors with a 90s feel, has become increasingly popular. On June 2, the artist opened a new solo exhibition at A.F GALLERY in Harajuku.   In addition to many of her past creations, visitors will also be able to see newly drawn works created especially for the exhibition, as well as works from the recently released NFT project City Pop TOKYO, for which Natsumi Sato acted as the character designer.   Sato is planning on holding exhibitions in Fukuoka and Osaka in the future.
  • City Pop TOKYO Collaborates with Idol Group FRUITS ZIPPER to Produce Member-Inspired Legendary NFTs

    The NFT project City Pop TOKYO is inspired, fittingly, by City Pop, a music genre from Japan that is immensely popular worldwide, particularly among Gen Z. Now, the project is collaborating with the incredibly popular idol group FRUITS ZIPPER!   Starting at the end of April, Legendary NFTs inspired by the members of FRUITS ZIPPER will be released sequentially as part of the City Pop TOKYO NFT collection. These collaborative NFTs feature rare designs that are unique among the other characters in the City Pop TOKYO NFT collection and were drawn by Natsumi Sato, the illustrator who oversaw character design for the collection.   This collaboration will commemorate the release of City Pop TOKYO's main collection, which will be available starting at the end of April. City Pop TOKYO will allow both NFT holders and non-holders to participate in new character development through a series of Twitter posts after the main NFT collection is sold. Characters will level up by earning training points when they post on Twitter, which will also be reflected in their NFT properties. The final ranking will be based on level, and a subsequent audition will be held, with winners being invited to join ASOBISYSTEM as new talents.   For this collaboration, the wildly popular FRUITS ZIPPER is sure to bring some new excitement to this incredible project.
  • Popular Manga Series ‘Under Ninja’ Gets Anime Adaptation from Tezuka Productions in October 2023

    On February 22, known as Ninja Day in Japan, a teaser visual and website for the anime adaptation of the manga series Under Ninjawere unveiled. The series will premiere on TBS and other networks in October 2023.

     

    Under Ninja is written and illustrated by Kengo Hanazawa, known for his series I Am a Hero and Boys on the Run. The manga series is currently serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine and tells the story of a secret society of ninjas. While the underground warriors were thought to have disappeared after WWII, Kuro Kumogakure is one of them, though he’s also a NEET.

     

    A TV anime adaptation has been announced for 2023, a teaser trailer has been released, and a new teaser visual and teaser website have also been unveiled.

    The new visual released on February 22 depicts the main character Kuro lurking in the shadows. The staff lineup has also been revealed, with the series being directed by Satoshi Kuwabara with character designs by Nobuteru Yuki.
