Track-by-track preview released for collaborative album with Osamu Tezuka, Isao Tomita and Hatsune Miku!
To celebrate the 90th birthday of Osamu Tezuka, the 85th birthday of Isao Tomita, and the 10th anniversary of the Hatsune Miku music software, a very special collaborative album will be released on September 6th titled Hatsune Miku Sings “Tezuka Osamu to Tomita Isao no Ongaku wo Namaensou de” (translated: Hatsune Miku Sings “Osamu Tezuka and Isao Tomita’s Music Live”). Staff that have already heard the song previews have described it as an “unprecedented collection” and “a rare collection the likes of which have never been heard.” Among the hype as to just how exactly the contents of this album sound, a video trailer showcasing snippets of every song has been made available for listening.
The list contains songs written by Isao Tomita for numerous works of manga artist and author Osamu Tezuka when they were still alive, such as for “Ribbon no Kishi,” “Kimba the White Lion” and “Dororo.” The music is backed by live jazz performances by jazz pianist and composer Masahiko Satō who is a prominent figure in Japan’s jazz scene. The songs also include duets that feature a mixture of virtual singers such as Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto as well as real singers.
Not only does Miku sing throughout tracks on the album, she also narrates over it, acting as a navigator through the tracks. The finale of the album features a special ending track titled “Subete no Tezuka Sakuhin e Keii wo. Hatsune Miku Yori, Rap ni Nosete” (translation: Honouring all of Tezuka’s works. From Hatsune Miku, with rap). This will hail as Miku’s first official rap/poetry reading piece.
The special rap/poetry reading piece conatains bass by track-maker Shijima Kaise, and Vocaloid makers Crypton Future Media, Inc. have adjusted the existing Hatsune Miku software slightly to record the breaths of the virtual singer. The track pays homage to the world that manga god Osamu Tezuka created. You can hear previews of each track below so be sure to check them out.
