BEAMS opens pop-up shop “TOKYOJIN” in London’s luxury department store Harvey Nichols!

BEAMS Co., Ltd. have opened a pop-up store called “TOKYOJIN” in London’s representative department store Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge. The store opened on September 1st and will be open until October 15th.

Tokyo is a truly diverse city home to people from all over the world all with different cultural backgrounds. It’s an environment that can be both dead silent and tumultuous. It’s a place where the traditional and the innovators co-exist. The people who live in this city, one that is always advancing in complexity and originality; who still cherish traditional Japan while also looking out to the world to expand their interests, are called “Tokyo Jin” (“Tokyo People”). The “TOKYOJIN” pop-up store has been set up in Harvey Nichols by BEAMS, who cater to the needs and lifestyle of the modern man, to present Japanese fashion, sundries and more.

In addition to original items from BEAMS, a brand very familiar to the Japanese people, the shop stocks a wide of items, including wares from Japanese fashion brands such as “Loopwheeler,” a high quality cut-and-sew brand that makes its clothing with old-style loopwheel knitting machines; “Buzz Rickson’s,” whose painstaking work into their bomber jackets is recognised all around the world; “Teatora,” a brand which wields very modern design concepts; “Arc’teryx,” who creates made-to-order items with BEAMS; and more, all of which lead the Tokyo fashion world. The shop is also selling a variety of traditional Japanese craftwork goods including original BEAMS sensu folding fans, pottery works from “Hamada-Pottery,” kokeshi dolls made by “Sendaikiji Seisakujo” and more. But it doesn’t stop there, as there’s photo collections from Japanese photographers including Moriyama Daido and Takashi Homma available for purchase to showcase the techniques and sensitivity of Japanese people. And to celebrate the opening of the pop-up store, there’s limited edition items for sale too including a Champion×Harvey Nichols×BEAMS triple collaboration.

Publisher HATO PRESS are holding a range of workshops while the shop is open and there will also be numerous events for people to experience Japanese culture. Workshops include bonsai, Risograph, calligraphy and more. There’s a special page on the official Harvey Nichols website introducing “TOKYOJIN” and what it’s all about. It includes a movie produced with “poweredby.tokyo,” a project introducing the Tokyo Jin lifestyle to the rest of the world in their own original way. There’s also an interview with BEAMS representative Yō Shitara, along with a range of other things to see.

    Harajuku-based artist Kyary Pamyu Pamyu charmed overseas fans during her first world tour in five years. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu WORLD TOUR 2023 -POPPP- took the artist to seven cities in four countries around the world.

     

    In May, Kyary began the U.S. leg of her tour, stopping in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago with French DJ/trackmaker Moe Shop as her opening act.

     

    The artist performed in Paris and London in June, along with Barcelona and Madrid for Primavera Sound 2023, one of the biggest music festivals in Europe.

    The Cabaret Sauvage in Paris and the London Earth Hall in London were filled to the brim with local fans, eager to see Kyary Pamyu Pamyu live for the first time in years. The audience sang the popular track Cherry Bon Bon in unison, dancing along with the legendary choreography.

     

    The London show featured Hannah Diamond as Kyary’s opening act. Signed to the UK label PC Music, Diamond is a leader in the HyperPop scene.

    Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, who continues to be active around the world, wowed the packed London venue with her expert dance moves and musicianship.

     

    At Primavera Sound, a festival taking place over two weeks in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, a large crowd gathered in front of the stage, instantly captivated by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's unique style and Yasutaka Nakata’s addictive electro sound.

    On July 15, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu will perform a solo concert at the Hibiya Open Air Concert Hall, which will also mark her triumphant return to Japan following her successful world tour. The artist will also perform at several summer festivals. Audiences around the world are enthralled with the Kawaii performer, and it’s only a matter of time before she performs for global audiences yet again.

  • Licaxxx Appears in KINGS with BEAMS SPORTS Concept Video

    Musical artist Licaxxx can be seen in KINGS with BEAMS SPORTS, a special concept movie made to promote the collaboration between BEAMS SPORTS and the Ryukyu Golden Kings, a B. League professional basketball team.   This project aims to expand the community surrounding both collaborators. BEAMS SPORTS creates opportunities for people to become more familiar with the positive energy generated by modern sports culture while the Ryukyu Golden Kings is known for celebrating the people and culture of Okinawa.   The concept video was planned and supervised by 92, a member of the artist collective GReeeeN.     BEAMS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2022 ‘BE FES!’ will be held at Zepp concert halls in Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka from July 5 to August 10, 2022.    The artist lineup and performance venues have been partially changed following the event’s postponement. The lineup will include a variety of unique artists that are all up-and-coming in the Japanese music scene, and the official T-shirts that were previously available for preorder are now available to order again at the BEAMS online store.   Areas around the venue will also offer events, and the BEAMS HAPPY TICKET will be available for guests to enjoy. The ticket is part of a collaboration with restaurants and shops in the area recommended by BEAMS staff.  The festival will be livestreamed so that those unable to attend the venues in person will still be able to enjoy!     BEAMS Japan will hold an event highlighting the wonders of Okayama Prefecture in both Shinjuku, Tokyo, and Taipei, Taiwan! The event will feature specialty products from 11 businesses in Okayama, and is now open in Shinjuku, with the Taipei event beginning in February 2022. Certain items are also available at the official BEAMS online shop.   Selected ProductsOkayama prefecture is known for its mild climate and nature. BEAMS Japan has developed 81 unique products, with some highlighting the denim creation in the region and others showcasing local crafts. As Okayama is closely associated with Momotaro, a figure out of Japanese folklore, peaches are very prominent in the region and can be seen in a number of these special products.    Selected products from the collection will be available at the Taipei location from February 24 until March 13, 2022. Although travel has been made incredibly difficult during the pandemic, this pop-up shop was made possible by Okayama prefecture and BEAMS Japan.
