The Tokyo Edo Week 2017 planning committee will hold an event titled,“Tokyo Edo Week 2017,” an event where visitors can enjoy Japanese traditional art works and food at Ueno Oncho Park (Tokyo, Taitoku) from the 5th of October 2017 (Thurs.) to the 9th of October 2017 (Mon. / holiday). Under the concept of “We insist that our customers to wear traditional Japanese clothes,” they will offer various of amenities such as offering a photo-taking experience (10 persons limited) and serving drinks to the visitors who are wearing yukata (Japanese traditional clothes).
Traditional craft makers, food companies and stores from all over Japan will sell their products. Also, stage performances by various artists including Senwaka Satsuki (the third patriarch of Satsuki) who is known as the maverick in the field of Japanese contemporary dance, Yumeno Tuzuki (an artist) and Masanori Takahashi (an opera singer) will be held.
The following events are “recommended events” at Tokyo Edo Week 2017.
▶Shiawase ni Nareru Dashidokoro – Yaizu Zenhachi
The top chef of the restaurant created a limited menu using “Yakitsube no Dashi,” a broth of bonito which was born from a Katsuobushi (dried bonito) maker in Yaezu which has been supporting the “broth culture” of Japan. The menu items will be sold for five days.

▶10月7日(土) limited Sakana no Machi “Yaizu” Special Even
“Sasue Maeda Uodana” is a fish shop which has gathering impressive credentials from top chefs all over the world. The chef of the shop, Naoki Maeda will choose the best fish and the store manager of a very popular Japanese restaurant, Onseki will make the dishes. Fabulous Yaizu collaborative menus will be served.

Sanpi Ryoron is one of the most popular restaurants in Japan and Masahiro Kasahara is the owner of this restaurant. He is actively working to introduce the allurement of Japanese foods including home cuisines and full-fledged cuisines to young people. His “Broth Ankake Gyudon” (bowl with meet and rice) is so delicious!
▶Zenkoku Jizake Fair ～25 Shuzo ga Daisyugo～
Twenty-five sake makers chosen by a young store owner will gather at the venue! Rare sakes such as Kubota from Niigata Prefecture, Denshin from Fukui Prefecture, Kikuhime from Ishikawa Prefecture, Fukukomachi from Akita Prefecture and Tenmei from Fukushima Prefecture will be served.
※Sweet sake, sparkling and fruit liquor will also be served.
▶The limited menu of Edo October Fest will be offered!
Edo October Fest will be held for the first time! An event titled,“The great figures of the Edo Period meet German beer” will be held. In addition to Japanese craft beer, limited menus of Tokyo Edo Week will be offered.
▶ALL DAY 18:00～ Akimo Yukata de Bonodori
Bonodori (Japanese traditional dance party) which has been held at Shinobazu no Ike will be held at Tokyo Edo Week 2017. Let’s dance under the autumn sky!

Licaxxx Announces Tokyo Community Radio’s Second Event Series ‘communities’ to be Held in Tokyo and Osaka
Tokyo Community Radio (TCR), an online radio platform run by Licaxxx, has announced a new event titled communities. The event will be held at Daikanyama UNIT / Saloon in Tokyo on June 30 and at Osaka JOULE on July 1. The guest lineup includes re:ni and Laksa, two hot up-and-coming DJs and producers reshaping the UK music scene. The duo has a monthly program on NTS Radio titled re;lax, along with a party series of the same name. The Mine City Tourism Association has announced a Christmas & Valentine’s Day event at Akiyoshido Cave, one of the largest limestone caves in Japan. The event will see the natural wonder illuminated by a number of colorful lights. The Christmas event will run from December 21 to 25, 2022, while the Valentine’s Day event will run from February 10 to 14, 2023. Akiyoshido Cave is one of Yamaguchi Prefecture’s most popular tourist attractions. The interior will be decorated with colorful lights and unique soundscapes, creating a once-in-a-lifetime setting for visitors. These illuminations and sounds were directed by world-renowned lighting designer Motoko Ishii, known for her work on Tokyo Tower and the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge.

A story-based digital GPS rally inspired by Chainsaw Man will be held within Tokyo’s subway system from November 1 until November 28. Fans of the anime series won’t want to miss it! Participants will be tasked with one vital mission: to find five senior devil hunters who are currently undercover at subway stations around the city. Participants will download an app from the special website and follow the instructions within to find stamp locations at stations throughout Tokyo. When they reach the designated location, they’ll find a special poster, and they’ll just need to press a button in the app to earn a stamp. By collecting stamps in all six locations, fans will receive a unique key visual which can only be obtained through this event.
Pop-Up Shop
During the event period, fans will also find a limited-time pop-up shop inside Ikebukuro Sunshine City. Original collaboration items will be on sale, and a game will be set up with winners able to walk away with unique prizes. From November 1 to November 20, admission to the shop will be by advance reservation only on a first-come, first-served basis to reduce crowding.
