RYUBO has started exhibiting/selling Japan’s quality products in Hong Kong

RYUBO Industry is now exhibiting/selling 135 “Japan’s quality products” at Hongkong’s K11 Design Mole (Hongkong/Chimusachoi) from the 27th of January 2018 to the 20th of February 2018.

Department store, RYUBO agreed to tie-up with Nihon Hyakkaten on July 2017. In addition to products produced in Okinawa, RYUBO is now selling quality products of Japan with Nihonhyakka targeting foreign tourists whose numbers have been increasing in recent years.

In addition to selling “Japan’s quality products,” they have gathered artisans from Japan to offer experience-based events showing the making-process of Japanese traditional arts such as “Tokyo Momengatazome,” “Aichi Erosoku,” and “Aichi Fragrance Dukuri.”

In addition to popular items such as “Fujisan Oroshi Jiki” and “Utagawa Kuniyoshi Ukiyoe no Tenugui,” they selected many kinds of quality products such as Japanese desserts using glit and beauty products.

 

Japan is known as a country which produces quality products. Japanese everyday products are fun to use and are created in a delicate manner. Such products will help you enjoy the changing of the season, wrapping small products and enjoying alcoholic drinks. This is an event where you can enjoy the culture of Japan.

    The Okinawa Collection Executive Committee has announced the first girls’ fashion festival OKINAWA COLLECTION 2023. The event will be held at Umisora Park in Okinawa on September 24, 2023. The first round of performers has been announced and pre-sale tickets are now available.

     

    The event will be held on the picturesque sandy beaches of Naha, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture. The area is famous for its contributions to entertainment, and the show aims to share current pop culture with both audiences in Japan and the world.

     

     ■Several influential models are scheduled to appear!

    The first batch of performers include Yuina Kogawa, a model and television personality; Nana Kato, an exclusive model for Ray and LARME magazines; Ariana Sakura, an exclusive model for ViVi and a model for many popular brands; Nagomi, who also produces the cosmetics brand "GENTY," and PyunA., an exclusive model for the fashion magazine Koakuma ageha who is set to release her first photo book in August.

     

     ■Additional guests, including popular YouTubers, will take the stage!

    Guests include the popular YouTuber duo Nakonako Couple, active both online and on TV; Mukuena, two childhood friends and artists with a popular YouTube channel; Toua, a current trendsetter; Osaki, a high-schooler appearing in the People category of the JC/JK Buzzword Awards 2022; Sakura, an exclusive model for Popteen; Mika Kato, an exclusive model for nuts; and Yuichami, the younger sister of Uchami and an exclusive model for egg.

     

    ■The trending boy band OCTOPATH will perform!

    OCTPATH, a boy group consisting of former trainees appearing on the popular audition program PRODUCE 101 JAPAN SEASON 2, made their major debut in 2022. Guests can expect a mesmerizing performance!

  • ‘Edo Punk! The Dynamic World of Ukiyo-e’ Released in Japanese and English

    Ukiyo-e paintings became popular during the Edo Period of Japanese history. For those weaning to see some of the most rad ukiyo-e paintings around, the new book Edo Punk! The Dynamic World of Ukiyo-e is now available at bookstores nationwide and online. Luckily, the book is also bilingual in English and Japanese!   Kuniyoshi Utagawa, popular in Japan and abroad and known for his unique perspective, and Yoshitoshi Tsukioka, the inspiration for many modern manga series, are both featured in this tome. The many pieces featured combine elements of fantastical beauty and harsh realities, and fans can read commentary by Shoko Haruki. Haruki worked at the Hokkaido Museum before becoming a curator at the Edo-Tokyo Museum in 2017. She specializes in Japanese art history.   The book is now available at bookstores nationwide and online.
  • Kyary Pamyu Pamyu to Perform at UNIK Asia Festival 2022

    Kyary Pamyu Pamyu will perform at UNIK Asia Festival 2022, a massive music and fashion festival to be held at a large outdoor space in the middle of Hong Kong on December 10 and 11, 2022.    UNIK Asia Festival 2022 will bring together a number of Asian artists for live performances and fashion shows. JAY B, leader of the popular Korean boy band GOT7, will also perform, along with all former members of 2NE1–CL, Minzy, Park Bom, and Sandara Park.   Also slated to perform are Feng Ze, Taiwanese band 831, rapper Tyson Yoshi, Jer and Jeremy from the idol group MIRROR, and many more international artists.    Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Travis Japan, who made their world debut last month, will represent Japan. Kyary has performed around the world many times, appearing at Coachella in April, and recently performing with Katy Perry at THE CONCERT 2022.    In December, Kyary will reenact her Coachella performance with shows in Osaka and Tokyo.     Craft beer subscription service Otomoni opened orders for a new Tsundere-themed Hazy IPA on November 15, 2022.   • The Sumida Hokusai Museum Opens Hyakunin Isshu Exhibition Featuring 105 Unique Works

    The Sumida Hokusai Museum in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, will be holding the ‘Hokusai at Play with the 100 Poems’ exhibition from December 15, 2022 until February 26, 2023. The exhibition will focus on the Hyakunin Isshu, a famous collection of 100 poems integral to Japanese traditional culture.

      By the middle of the Edo period, the Hyakunin Isshu, or 100 classical poems, had become an established part of Japanese culture. Hokusai, an ukiyo-e artist of the period, painted a total of 27 of these famous poems, incorporating his own ideas and views to create unique pieces still beloved so many years later. This exhibition features 24 paintings from the museum’s Hyakunin Isshu collection along with dozens more items pertaining to this legendary collection of writings. Don’t miss it!
  • Hotel Gajoen Tokyo to Hold Tours of Historic Hundred Stairs

    The historic Hotel Gajoen Tokyo, which blends a hotel and a traditional Japanese museum, will offer a tour of the Hyakudan Kaidan (Hundred Stairs) from December 3 until December 25, 2022. This Tangible Cultural Property of Tokyo is an incredible sight, and those with an interest in Showa-era architecture won’t want to miss it.   In 1988, part of the old Gajoen structure was torn down to make way for new structures along the Meguro River basin,  and the hotel underwent a large-scale renovation over a period of three years. The Hundred Stairs were originally built in 1935 and designated as a Tangible Cultural Property by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 2009.Over the years, the Gajoen has served as a restaurant and gathering place for visitors from both the Showa-era and Heisei-era. Filled with traditional Japanese aesthetics, the location is now filled with art and pieces of cultural significance.
