MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON (MMN) is set to hold the biggest event for promoting Japanese pop culture to the world, MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL 2018 in SHIBUYA, across the areas of Shibuya and Harajuku on March 24th and 25th.
Today, we are announcing the main performers as well as some of what you can expect to see at the festival. This year’s MMN FESTIVAL is free entry! But you’ll need to register in advance to attend, so don’t forget!

There are 4 main areas where the MMN Festival will take place that you need to know about!
A multitude of popular models including Natsume Mito and Yutaro will grace the stage, as well as young artists MAGiC BOYZ. A host of talented personalities will also take to performing including the fortune teller Chamereon Takeda, who has appeared on TV and in magazines, comedian Rei Maruyama, Youtuber Megane and more. Music media company Spincoaster, music website Natalie and hip-hop musician & activist Zeebra will come together to curate a special live performance made up exclusively of must-see acts. Ukon Takafuji, who choreographed the internet-famous “Tokyo Bon 2020” video that blew up online across the globe, will perform a traditional Japanese dance show and ‘Bon Odori’ performance. There will also be a selection of must-try original foods and popular sweets that you can only get at this festival.
Area 1: Laforet Museum Harajuku
<Harajuku Kawaii Market presented by Mynavi Baito>
Laforet Harajuku will take on the theme of “Find Japan’s Kawaii♡” for the Harajuku Kawaii Market.
You will turn into a kawaii girl in this area simply by turning up. Get involved with fashion, beauty, fortune-telling, DIY and more.
Japanese model Natsume Mito will hold her very own fashion show for the first time. The show’s theme is based on a picture book chosen by Natsume Mito herself, Bulldog Tantei to Kieta Hoshi (Tomonori Taniguchi, BUNKEIDO). She will read the book aloud while models dress up to bring the world of the book to life!
Be electrified by a performance from hip-hop group MAGiC BOYZ too. Having collaborated with recognized Japanese rappers as well as up-and-coming artists, they have truly made a name for themselves. Their show is a must-see, so don’t miss out.
Popular fortune-teller Chamereon Takeda will take to the stage. Japanese model Hikari Shibata will have her fortune told by the expert through horoscopes. Turn up and find out your horoscope for April too. Those wanting to experience fortune telling with the real life Chamereon Takeda should head over to Laforet!
Mynavi Baito will hold their “Big Challenge of the Youth” project for which young people must create their own kawaii part-time work outfits which will be worn by a line-up of models on stage! See Yuri Suganuma, Mei Nagasawa and Anna Yano dress up in clothes made by actual school students.

Down in Tower Records Shibuya’s CUTUP STUDIO on B1F, influential artists in the music scene and music media companies that have hooked up with many promising artists and new talent will become official curators for a special stage event together with MMN.
MMN will also take to the roof to hold our own stage event. If you love kawaii and you love idols, then you won’t want to miss out on our very special idol stage where you can see performances from a huge list of idol groups!
Music media company “Spincoaster” will also host a stage of 3 artists making the headlines right now as recommended by the company themselves – The Wisely Brothers, Mizuki Ohira, and SIRUP.
Zeebra, a hip-hop artist and activist representing the city of Tokyo, is bringing the heated MC battle segment from his hip-hop radio channel “WREP” to the festival. See Zeebra and audience representatives battle it out in a 3-on-3 MC battle before your very eyes.
Natalie, Japan’s number one source of information for music news, has selected a line-up that best represents our “MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON Project” – those who best deliver the charm of Japanese pop culture. The line-up includes Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders, MISMOPE, Luby Sparks, SHE IS SUMMER and more.
MMN are set to showcase idol groups we want to introduce to international audiences. Our line-up includes Lovely Doll, Yamakatsu, Sakadori Hasshinkyoku, sora tob sakana, APPARE! Harajuku, Jewel☆Neige, NEO JAPONISM, CY8ER, and more. Don’t miss out on this chance to see performances from real idols!
Area 3: Shibuya Cast
<Enjoy Hanami Early in Shibuya: “MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON Market”>
The MMN Market will let people experience Japan’s flower-viewing season early in Shibuya. Gaze at cherry blossoms while indulging in traditional Japanese food, matcha sweets, sake and plenty of other goodies. It will be a cuisine and culture experience only possible in Japan, with stalls selling fresh vegetables and more.
Japanese male idol group Amato Danshi will open their own café offering a selection of sweets recommended by the guys themselves. The No.1 maid café group Maidreamin will also be there to serve you. Get your hands on original merchandise, cast a spell on your drink to make it even more delicious, dress up and have your photo taken chekki-style with a maid, and more!
A lottery draw will also be held to win unique souvenirs and items from Kyoto. This will be your chance to taste the hugely popular “Tabe Aruki Kyo Baum” from Kyoto’s famous sweet shop “Kyo Baum Shop.”
Area 4: Onden Shrine
<Tie Links With the Gods of Harajuku: “MOSHI MOSHI ENNICHI”>
This “Ennichi” event will use cutting-edge technology at the traditional Onden Shrine. There will be traditional Japanese performances as well as DJs dressed up as characters who will put on a fantastic DJ show. There’s plenty to get directly involved with including a big karaoke party and ‘Bon Odori’ session.
A must-see in this area will be the traditional Japanese dance show put on by Ukon Takafuji, the producer and chairman of “JAPAN CULTURE ENTERTAINMENT -YUMENOYA-” and the second generation of the company “Takafuji Dance Company,” a pioneer of traditional Japanese dance that boasts a history of 100 years. Not only will there be classic Bon Odori hits playing, but also a performance of Tokyo Bon 2020 choreographed by Ukon Takafuji himself, a song co-produced with “COOL JAPAN TV” that has taken the world by storm. Whether you’re young, old or from overseas, everybody is invited to join in the dance!
<Experience-Based Tours For Foreign Attendees>
An official event tour will be held for the very first time in collaboration with Airbnb. Not only will you be taken around the event venues but introduced to recommended spots around them too. There will also be tours with popular models who will take you little-known good places in Harajuku. A tour for foreigners will also be held in co-operation with “Jnnovations,” a unique and high-quality tour service aimed at foreign travelers.

What is the MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL?
The MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL is an event centered around Japanese fashion, music, anime, food and lifestyle. It’s part of the “MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON” project which aims to promote and deliver Japanese pop culture to the world from fashion to music, food, anime and more.
The first festival was held in 2014 and saw more than 15,000 people attend, and since then the attendance rate has increased every year. The festival has also been taken out of Tokyo and overseas on a world tour.
■Popular food from across the whole of Japan!
In 2016, Japan’s biggest food event, Niku Fes, was held outdoors at the MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL. A total of nine restaurants rolled up to the festival, including “Kanzaki Jukuseiniku Kakunoshin,” a winner of 3 awards. Every restaurant stall was constantly packed with long lines of people hungry for a taste of Japanese food. Sweets were also available, such as crepes themed around popular anime characters.What kind of food can you expect to try this year? Look forward to finding out!
The flea market is held every year and is a place where you can buy personal items of real models managed by ASOBISYSTEM. It’s an irresistible event for fans and an always hugely popular area with products in short supply. In 2015, the World Cosplay Summit was featured on stage at MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL. The spectacular runway saw avid cosplayers dressed up as characters from a wide selection of series.
■Lots of kawaii & girly booths!A lot of girls in with the trends of today make their way to MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL. In the past, there’s been a nail art service where you didn’t need to book, and there’s even been a hair removal salon – something which you normally can’t experience as carefree as this. There’s plenty of content at the festival that’s immensely popular with girls every year. This year, we will be holding the “Harajuku Kawaii Market” at the Laforet Museum in Harajuku! Prepare yourself to become cute just by attending!

The MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL has seen performances from some of the most popular artists in Japan, including CAPSULE, an electronica duo that includes Yasutaka Nakata, who are a prominent existence in the club scene around world; and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, a pop icon and international sensation. In 2016, iconic Japanese idol group Dempagumi.inc, as well as RAM RIDER – an artist active in many fields including as a DJ, producer and music provider – took to the stage, along with a host of other artists also popular inside and outside Japan.
■Traditional Japanese performances & culture experience workshops
The festival showcases the charm of Japanese culture with performances from a diverse range of groups, such as ouen-za, who use original choreography in the form of traditional Japanese dancing to create a unique kind of performance; TAKARABUNE, who perform Awa Dori to give life to a new Japanese artform; and KIRIE, who put on art performances based on Japanese myths and fairy tales. Experience traditional Japanese culture hands-on by getting dressed in traditional Japanese clothing or trying out the Awa Odori dance. Try your hand at a calligraphy lesson or traditional Japanese wagakki instruments, get painted in yuzen komon body art, or see ink wash paintings. A traditional day held at Onden Shrine is ‘Ennichi’. Look forward to strolling along the festival walk and tucking into some festive food at the indispensable food carts, trying your luck at the classic yo-yo fishing, and more. We will also set up a stage at the shrine where you can listen to traditional Japanese gagaku, or ancient imperial court music, as well as a character DJ festival where many different well-known characters will perform. You’ll be spoiled for choice on where to begin at the festival, and there’s plenty for both kids and adults to enjoy.

Starting from November 24, MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL 2016 a festival that has focused on Japanese culture from diverse areas lasted 4 days. On the last day, artists who are prominent overseas came to perform!
KIREI and KAIEN artistically performed with the theme of “wa (Japanese culture)” kicked off the day on YAGURA stage and AMIAYA and Una appeared at the DJ booth. The epic performance of DJ created fervent atmosphere and brought the excitement to MOSHI FES Day 2.
Taiko (Japanese drums) and Shakuhachi (baboo flute) were the first to perform on the MOSHI MOSHI stage. With their powerful sound of drums, everything quickly became quiet and the audience were enthralled by their performance. After the opening show, DJ RAMRIDER remixed different famous Japanese songs from diverse fields. The dynamic music from games to anime captivated the crowd at once.
Attarashii Gakkou Leaders appeared on stage. Their unique performance and MC gave a strong impression on many visitors. They also had a vigorous movement and brilliant voice that echoed throughout the venue. TEMPURA KIDZ performed next on stage. Having a humorous dance and performance, they intrigued the crowd by singing 6 songs nonstop. Without allowing the audience to calm down, denpa gumi inc took on the stage. They performed their famous songs “W.W.D”, “Denden passion” and their new song “saisai kouchou!”. Attarashii Gakkou Leaders and Denpa Gumi inc collaborated on stage as NEO JAPONISM. It was a performance that could only been seen at the event.
Japan’s well known store such as "Nishi-Azabu Kenshiro" and "Kyoto Kimora Tetsu" gathered to the “Nippon Umai Yokocho” at the event. Many visitors were thrilled to eat the hot dumplings and juicy matsuzaka beef burger. People also enjoyed the event through the food culture of Japan.
Since yesterday, the venue has been set up with many intriguing booths. One of the most popular booths among foreign visitors was "Experience Japanese Culture Booth "WABI-SABI” which enables visitors to experience Japanese traditional culture. In the Japanese calligraphy and kimono workshop, many foreigners were enjoying the interactive experience. Many fans came running for the tickets to meet the famous models at the booth.
On the Yagura stage, DJ MARUKOME appeared on top of the yagura. Visitors were thrilled to see a unusual performance! Tokyo Performance Domo, a collaborative unit of Domo-Kun and Tokyo Performance Doll, stood next on the stage and taught domobics to the audience.
DAISHI DANCE feat. PAX JAPONICA GROOVE/ Housen delivered their beautiful melody on the MOSHI MOSHI stage. The mix of sensational melody of the PAX JAPONICA GROOVE’s synthesizer, Japanese instruments, Housen’s dance and DAISHI DANCE’s DJ created a wondrous atmosphere on stage.
As the venue came into one, CAPSULE took on the stage. The concert begun with “Starry Sky” “AnotherWorld” and “More!More!More!”. The venue was full of energy that it was like an dance floor in the crowd and CAPSULE finished their stage with “Sugarless Girl”.
The last performer of the MOSHI festival is Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, who finished her 5th year anniversary’s world tour. While wearing bright red costume, Kyary performed the remix of “Kira Kira Killar” “CANDY CANDY” “PON PON PON” and “Ninjyari Ban Ban”. Foreign visitors were thrilled and reached its climax when she played “Tukema Tukeru”, a popular song overseas! “Say & Kou” performance was full of excitement and was the finale of the "MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL 2016”.
"MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL 2016” which toured around the world finished off the event in Tokyo. It became an world wide festival that delivered enthralling Japanese culture to the world.

MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL – featuring Japanese culture including fashion, music and interactive – from Japan to the world!
MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON FESTIVAL 2016, a Japanese cultural event, kicked off their event on November 26. In addition to Japanese pop culture’s leading artists performing, there were hands on cultural experiencing booth and workshops. There were not only traditional and pop culture but also booth that presented Japanese advanced technology which made the event more exciting then before.
On the first day, there were performance of beloved pop teen artists and collaboration of women’s fashion magazine on stage. The opening stage had the theme of “wa (traditional Japanese culture)”. The rhythmic sounds of Japanese drums and instruments kicked off its event.
HR, a fashion magazine highly popular among high school students, had a fashion show on the main stage. Many models from HR took on the stage wearing mix of fashionable school uniform and casual clothes. Kane Dennis, “kawaii looking half model” appeared on the stage as a secret guest and was cheered by the audience.
After the HR fashion show, TEMPURA KIDZ performed its lively dance with kobito zukan’s characters.
Zipper, a harajyuku girl’s beloved magazine, took on the stage. As the theme of “fluffy and sparkly”, Zipper’s model, Hinako Kitano, Ayumi Seto, Ano, Beck, Peko, and Kokoro Shinozaki walked on the runway and had a talk show that exhilarated the atmosphere. The Taiwan’s model, Kimi, also appeared on the stage and walke on the runway with other models.
KERA, a goth loli styled magazine, delivered a thrilling show with 26 models such as Misako Aoki, Yu Kimura, and Hikari Shiina. It had an fashion show which collaborated with popular brands and announced the winner of “Lolita award”. MIPOM, a group of voice actor that published in KERA, appeared on stage. After the KERA’s show, “BAND MAID” a rock band dressed up in maid costume performed on stage. Since they are popular overseas, it created an lively atmosphere. BAND MAID performed their most popular “Thrill” and “alone” which captivated the audience.
“mer” had a special show themed “Japanese culture is here!”. On the stage, famous models such as Rinko Murata and Saaki Shibata walked on the runway inspiring the audience by wearing trendy winter clothes.
After the gorgeous stage of “mer”, Natsume Mito and PACMAN appeared on stage and sang “8 Beat Boy”. This was a dream collaboration come true!
While on YAGURA stage, there was a show of bon odori and oiran entertainment which attracted the foreign visitors. In addition, Marukome Miso’s character, Marukome-Kun arrived as an DJ. The venue was thrilled to see Marukome spin his remix!
The intriguing content were not only on stage but also in the booth area. For example, there were booth that introduced experiencing “BIOHAZARD”a popular game created by the PlayStation®VR, operating drone, and interesting PACMAN that attracted Japanese people as well as foreigners. There were also booth that had experience hands on traditional Japanese culture. Calligraphy, Japanese instruments, and Japanese tea ceremony workshops were not only popular among foreigners but also Japanese visitors as well.
On MATSURI stage, idol groups passionately performed outside that drove the cold away! Idols dj-ed during the “TOKYO OTAKU FESTIVAL”. There were idols that supported the event that energized the stage with their fans.
On MOSHI MOSHI STAGE, Silent Siren, a girl rock band appeared on stage. With their cute looks, they performed 3 songs including “CherryBom” powerfully that fascinated that crowd.
“X-girl” the street girl’s mass brand and “Droptokyo” a web magazine collaborated with AMIAYA’s DJ. During the performance, AMIAYA had cool looking face and walked on the runway that cheered the audience.
At the end of day 1, MOSHI MOSHI STAGE had every performer on stage. The festival will be also held today, Saturday 27th at the same venue – Tokyo metropolitan gymnasium - don’t miss it!!!

As the project’s first event, a Halloween pop-up shop named ‘KAWAII MONSTER SHOP - Colorful Halloween’ will open for 10 days starting October 19 in the birthplace of the brand, Harajuku. Last year, the HARAJUKU COLLECTIVE collaboration appeared at AF Gallery in Harajuku from August 10 until August 28, garnering massive acclaim from fans. The collection is now being sold at Shinsaibashi PARCO until March 12, 2023.
HARAJUKU COLLECTIVE is a Studio Ghibli-inspired apparel collection by the popular American counterculture chain Hot Topic. Bringing more Japanese culture to the ongoing Studio Ghibli collaboration launched in 2014, Hot Topic stores began selling original items produced by nine Japanese creators and brands, as well as some original American items produced by Hot Topic’s executive designers.
The lineup of Japan-original items includes T-shirts, tote bags, and other items featuring exclusive artwork by up-and-coming creators. Laforet Harajuku will host a pop-up shop inspired by the up-and-coming idol group FRUITS ZIPPER from February 1 until February 14! The FRUITS ZIPPER Valentine Pop-Up Shop will be found on the 5th floor MAKE THE STAGE area. FRUITS ZIPPER debuted in April 2022 and embodies a simple concept: “From Harajuku to the World.” The group’s second single Watashino Ichiban Kawaiitokoro exploded in popularity on TikTok, pulling in over 600 million views. In February, the girls will embark on their first solo concert tour in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. Mika Pikazo is an illustrator and character designer. The artist has designed characters for many popular titles including Fire Emblem Engage, the latest in Nintendo's Fire Emblem series, as well as book covers and CD jackets. Starting December 10, the artist will hold his second solo exhibition in three years at the Hz event space in Shibuya. According to a press release, the exhibition is being held to show a number of creations Pikazo has made recently, and aims to show off new animation and past illustrations to merge his past and future selves. The creator hopes to challenge himself more going forward. The first main visual, REVENGE, can be seen on the exhibition’s official website. A total of three visuals have been newly drawn for the event and will be released sequentially. In addition, a number of collaborative works with other creators will be on display, so art fans won’t want to miss out.

The global online fashion brand SHEIN has become wildly popular, shipping goods to over 150 countries. The world’s first permanent brick-and-mortar SHEIN store will open in Harajuku, Tokyo on November 13, 2022, displaying popular styles and items perfect for the Japanese market. All items on display will be available for purchase on the official SHEIN app simply by scanning the QR code on the tag. While items won’t be available to purchase in-store, the location will be a place where curious customers can try things on and explore new trends. The store has two floors and carries women's and men's wear, as well as kids' wear, pet goods, and accessories. In addition to standard fitting rooms, there will also be a photo booth and SHEIN gacha machine! This summer, the brand held its first pop-up event in Japan, traveling to five cities over two days.
