Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra will celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2019, and what better way to kick off their new year than announcing an appearance at Lollapalooza Chilie next year which will be held on March 29 to 31.
Overseas performances from Japanese ska and jazz band have centred around Central and South America. If you attended one of their solo shows in Mexico you would have been part of a whopping crowd of 5,000. The band even performed on the main stage at Rock al Parque 2018 in Columbia to 60,000 people. Now, the 9-piece band are set to hit Chilie for Lollapalooza.
Before they do however they will first perform at PA’L NORTE 2019, a 2-day music and art festival in Monterrey, Mexico. They are part of a line-up consisting of big names such as Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon and Santana.

CHARAN-PO-RANTAN is made up of two sisters, known for singing in harmony while one plays an accordion. They will be releasing their new “almost” full album, “Torotomenashi” on January 18th, 2017. The music video for their new song “Otakebi” off of their album has been released today.
“Otakebi” is a collaboration song of CHARAN-PO-RANTAN and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, a group that works for the same production company. They have worked together in the past at the “Tokyo Ska Jamboree” festival sponsored by Tokyo Ska Paradise. They have also collaborated on Disney songs, and finally, they were able to collaborate on an original song together.
The song has a very CHARAN-PO-RANTAN style, provocative and aggressive. With Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, it adds a passionate and energetic feel to the music. To keep the unique mood of the song, they played through the entire piece without stopping. It was almost a single recording. The music video was also filmed in one shot to portray the character of the music. It gives you the feeling of being at a live performance.
